I guess I could, but I wonder if it would just be less hassle to get a new adapter and know it works ;)
thats exactly what i did a few years back i got fed up with the cheap and cheerful ones and splashed the cash for the proper boss one and it was worth every cent,they even open up and i was able to repair it after the wire got a bit broke in the middle from use before i built my 'board..... .... |

yeah a quick search today saw that a cheap one will be $35-$40 and the Boss one is $55, that's brand new at a few music shops. so it's not really worth bothering with the cheap ones ;) |

i did a quick search for LM7809 on the net, and it seems the part/s would cost a matter of cents, so i might give this a go first ;)
any tips to get me started? soldering is no prob, so if someone wants to help, let me know what you need! |

Sorry mate - no pics. It is built into my bypass switcher and buried in a bunch of cabling.

Hi Peebo
While you are there, ask them for a small clip-on, slide-on, or bo;t on heatsink, it will keep the that LM317T, 3 pin regulator IC, running really cool.
You can also get a small Jiffy box-case to put it into, to make it all neat & tidy.
They even have a nice looking translucent one, which I sometimes use.

Yep - the LM317 is adjustable while the LM7809 is fixed at 9V. The LM317 is a good solid regulator - been around forever.
When you get it made, just connect your "14V" adapter to it and away you go |

thnx dr bob. i noticed in Laurie schematic thread he mentioned a heatsink, but the pic on jaycar looked like the LM317T was direct onto the board ;)
I was also thinking of getting a box big enough to fit both the adapter and the regulator, and mounting it on a board (when i make one) so it'll be nice and tidy :) |

thnx to all that have helped so far, I went to jaycar at lunch at got the kit, a clipon heatsink and a box to house it in (as recommended on the front of the kit packet)
will let you know how it turns out! |

$18.50 all up. kit was $14.95, heatsink $1 and box $2.50, just a plain black one
will post pics for sure ;)
unless it doesnt fix my problem in which case i'll just cry lol |
