hey guys, i'm in need of a volume pedal and know little to nothing of what constitutes a good buy...i don't want to spend too much but i'm willing to make a decent investmentoin one that will last and perform well...i mean obviously i see Ernie Ball being thrown out there a lot so i'm looking towards one of those but thought i'd get some input from here first...
I like the older FV300 pedals... all metal and a good linear volume curve.
I've tried the FV50 ones, they are a made of plastic and a bit smaller than the FV300's. More importantly for me, they have a different (non linear) volume curve... the volume comes in very very quickly with only a slight movement of the pedal.

Ditto on this one - don't wast yer moeny on an FV50.
A lot of the top studio/session guys using racks i've seen on youtube designed by the likes of bob bradshaw etc...seem to be using the Boss FV-500 as volume and expression pedals.... Mark Knopfler uses ernie ball but i read somewhere he didn't like the newer versions..something to do with the curve of the volume pot,so he got his roadie to source some of the older ones as spares...Larry Carlton uses a old Sho-Bud off a pedal steel guitar......personally i use my strats volume control and my little finger for volume swells and ajustments to my volume when playing.....
