Hi,
I was wondering if anyone new if the the pedals with more than three knobs and an LED on the controls have that little metal plate with the controls on there grounded or if it is just floating. I accidentally pushed the plate up a little on one side of my MIJ GE-7 Equalizer and the plate looks like it is just glued on. That could be an explanation for some noise problems if that is the case (but I'm still more likely to blame the crappy TL022P and JRC4558D op amps in there than any EMF noise, especially the three TL022Ps).
Peace, William |

| I don't have a GE-7, but I think there's an easy way to check. plug in a patch cable to the input side, then take either lead of a multimeter (resistance or continuity check) between the outside of the free end of the patch cable and the plate. |

| I did not get continuity on the control plate on my GE-7. On my BF-2 the plate has a 1.7 k#937; resistance to one of the jacks. Not exactle what I would call "chassis grounded." |

The plate is only there for decoration and to make painting a little easier - it doesn't serve any shielding or other electronic purpose. The box is doing the shielding just fine on its own.

| I don't know, I mean my Vox wah wah has a hole about that size for the rack to slide through, and it's got the rocker on top to close off most the EMF path, but it's still got a lot of EMF noise. The simple matter of the fact is that if the width of the EMF path is greater than half a wavelength, that radiation is still going to break through and cause noise. |

I opened up my MIJ BF-2 and noticed that the case actually does cover the whole top of the pedal where the pots go in. I thought that is was just the metal plate up there. Guess I should have looked first.
I think that the GE-7 doesn't have anything more than the plate up there, though. However the cases of the slider pots should be grounded, which helps. |
