Hypothetically... Would it be possible to take a spring reverb out of one amp, and make it into something you could plug into another?

I have a Digitech XP-400. It's my favorite "special effect" reverb I've ever owned. I had a TC Electronics Nova Verb, Boss RV-2, RV-3, EHX Holy Grail, and a Yamaha FX500. The only other that comes close to the Digitech is the Yamaha FX500. Both are great if you want that Slowdive-sounding reverb.

true but in terms of solid state compact pedals, nothing comes close to the FRV-1

but you have to own a frv-1 and spend a couple days with it to know it's true prowess. it's such a great pedal. right now i'm using it as a stand alone pedal (by it's self) for when i do john mayer type stuff. you can get that SAME EXACT tone that john gets with just this one pedal, everyone who hears it when i use it says it sounds simply AMAZING!

Yes. Fender do a stand-alone "reverb tank". About $600 though.

I have my shiny new FRV-1 sitting next to me but unfortunately it'll be Saturday before I can give it a blast. Where should I place it? After the dirt, but before the chorus and delay. After the chorus, but before the delay? After the delay? Currently running...
TU-2 -> CS-1 -> SD-1 -> TS9DX -> DF-2 -> DS-1 -> MT-2 -> MD-2 -> HZD Boost -> NS-2 -> CE-2 -> DM-2 -> DD-3

Will be most likely dropping the TS9DX to make room for it.

I'd personally put it after the delay... Especially as you're rolling with Analog. The repeats will never be 100% precise so the notes affected by the verb will always be very so slightly different I guess. I dont think it really matters Wether reverbing a delayed sound or delaying a reverbed one the outcome is to close for it to matter imo.

getting back to RV-3 .. i have one here , not mine...
Apart from other preferences... If I twiddle the delay time knob while I play, the sound makes some annoying pops, like a discontinuity which is not what happens on the the DM-2 or even on the DD-3. Is this a normal thing or a malfunction? Not that it's that important but sometimes I like to play with the delay time knob of my DD-3 and the transitions are normally smooth, if you know what I mean... DM-2 obviously smooth too but on the RV-3 it cracks the sound. Anyone?

The "logic" place would be after everything, at least it's the way it's used if it's an amp reverb. That's the sequence on the multi-fx pedalboards with fixed sequence too...err my ME-8B for example... the good news is - with the pedal you can try as you want :) but I would start from there.

Why so? I prefer the MIJ SD-1 I have? The tone's a lot nicer. The TS9DX makes my 345 sound 'muddy'. It played nicer with my Strat though...

Yeah, I know your SD-1 may be better... But you know, the TS9DX was my first stompbox and I really love that warm sound... And you're going to drop it! Do you have a heart at all?

Just kidding, mate

just had a chance to demo the T-Rex Room Mate and the marshall Reflector side by side....

WHAT A DIFFERENCE.... both sound and price-wise....

the Marshall was okayish but couldn't keep up with the Room Mate at all. It's only a third of the price though...

I tested the Reflector when it came on the market. I had the chance to take it home along with the Echohead and the Regenerator. I tried it in my daily used rig and almost everything I got out of it sounded muddy and muffled. Then I tried my RV-5 again and welcomed back the high frequencies I was missing with the Marshall pedal! I don't like those three pedals.
