Was just searching for info about Ibanez pedals, came across this site and yes amoung the Boss pedals there it is, EH-2 MIJ, well well, another dealer who does not know his facts or.....................does he have one in stock.
Okay here is the site: http://sh333.bizland.com/biglist.htm You need to scroll down to "effects and noisemakers" and then search for the Boss-section.
Does anyone of you have an EH-2 MIJ? I have a MIT but the box does not say anything, not Taiwan or Japan, and that is very unusual, well at least for me, as usually there is a note on the box where the pedal was produced.
Just have a look will ya? Sorry for playing detective here, guess I have found myself a new hobby now |

Don't be sorry for playing detective. Your work is much appreciated. I'm a bit of geek and finds all the small differences really interesting
Never seen a MIJ EH-2. It is possible they exist but not very likely. If we observe 2 or 3 I will reconsider. My own is made in Taiwan but sadly it didn't come with a box. |

| Bossarea, do you have any boxes which have no mention of Japan or Taiwan? The EH-2 in question does have the code you find on all the other boxes, but no mention of Japan or Taiwan. Oh the pedal is from Taiwan, and the s/n starts with small letters rather than capital letters, but that may be something all pedals of the early 90s had in common. Since this is the only pedal I have from that period I cannot really compare at the moment. |

My CE-3 (Green label, Taiwan) doesn't have any info about the country on the box. No bar code or any other text than Boss CE-3 Chorus. My HF-2 has a bar code on the box but no mention of country there either. |

Well Manically, I can see your point, EH-2 is great pedal, versatile something you could use almost all the time.
Cool thing is you can even just use this pedal on its own and you will hear what it does to your signal.
Manically what do I hear you say? Do not like the TW-1? Gosh, such a viby organic box! Really very nice dynamic filter, but it may depend on your playing style and the kind of thing you are going for. Like it most of all just clean, so nothing infront of it, apart from my gtr.
Think the TW-1 and EH-2 make a nice pair, although their colours do not really mix eh? Old fashioned 70s style with modern looking green.
I think the EH-2 colour looks great on a Volkswagen, the Beatle one, but then the TW-1 colour could be good for the Beatle as well. |

Psss Supergtr., let us keep this quiet, as in the early 90s people had difficulty sellling this pedal, so let us not hype it too much as we all know what would happen next |

My EH-2 is MIT as well. Ive only got one boxed Boss effect, a CS-3, but there is no note on the box indicating the place of production.

yeah. the EH-2 is beginning to be branded as a "rare" pedal. i used the TW-1 mainly as a wah pedal. hehehe. not as a filter. |

EH-2 is a very underrated pedal, it acts subtle but for clean tones its very good. Even used alone. Ive seen rather many here in Sweden as low as $30. |

Maniacally I think you need to buy from Sweden in future, from Goran we hear that they still have all those good old pedals there, and their prices seem to be fine as well. Oh what can one do? Take a Holiday , but wouldn't it be nicer to do other things during your holidaytrip rather than scoring some more boxes for your earthly desires Heard that Sweden is the home of many young blonds, so.....................there is just an idea what you could be doing |

Goran you are right but if you put it after distortion boxes is really amazing, it can change a lot the sound of the guitar, on my opinion much better than clean tones.

I have noticed that too, and really, one would not expect it too work that well after distortion as on your clean sound you will get that HiFi sound, but on a distortion it almost acts like a compressor: Bringing out more clarity of your distorted sound.
Yep the EH-2 is a pedal you could use nearly all the time when you play regardless of what your signalpath is at the moment.
Oh coming back to the issue of boxes with or without a mention of the country of produce, I have discovered I have some more boxes where there is no mention at all, guess most of my more recent pedals all do have the mention, but it does not seem to be that they always printed the country of produce on the box in the past. Another one of those small things which you may want to be keen on when buying from Ebay to see if you are getting the real deal.
Cheers |
