If you want to fell better - open it up and see if the board inside was made in Japan - good chance it might have been. In regards to the rate control, on modulation type effects like this - this is controlling the rate of the modulation, how fast or how sloooooow the cycle changes. A "general" rule of thumb is the higher the rate, the lower the depth knob should be and vise versa. Of course sometimes for a cool effect I'll turn em' both up and make my audience seasick! |

I've found that if you turn up the rate and the depth you can get the Nirvana "Come as you are" chorus sound. Turn the rate to half and the depth all the way up you can cop Andy Summers chorus sound from the Police. An all around fine chorus. |

could the CE-2 be a re-issue? but BOSS never made any re-issue models right? anyways.. thanks guys, i got it now.. i noticed the difference with the "Rate" knob after turning it back and forth.. and yes.. you can get seasick with the settings of full Rate and full Depth
btw, just want to add, i've opened up the CE-2, but i can't find any Made In Japan marking... and ALSO, NOT EVEN A MADE IN TAIWAN MARKING!!! weird |

I don't think there's ever been a Boss pedal reissue. The CE-2 was produced for ages. The production date in the Boss book is really rubbish. I can remember seeing it new in stores as late as 1992.
It would be unusual to find a made in Japan or made in Taiwan marking on the PCB. The boss book talks about late OD-1s with Made in Taiwan printed on the circuit board but I've never seen the origin printed on any of the pedals I've looked inside. |

| I've seen a couple of examples where the PCB has "Taiwan" or "Japan" printed on it. I'm pretty sure that my MIT CE2 has a Japanese PCB. I'll verify this as soon as possible. |

It will be printed inside and visible - if you can't see it, then it isn't marked. And to add to the topic - I've added a DD-2 to my collection! |

| The DD-2 IMHO is the best digital delay that Boss has ever made. |

Yes, the DD2 rocks.
I don't have them yet, but within the next couple of weeks I'll (finally) be replacing my fried PH2 and will pick up an LS2. After that I think will own, or will have owned *nearly* every Boss compact pedal. |

Just remember to NOT tweek the trimpot in the next PH-2 you get. It would be a shame to lose two PH-2's in a lifetime |

Ha ha ha! Thanks for the advice! I'll try to keep away from the trimpots this time! |

Congratulations on your DS-1. And actually, I was only trying to find out what the "reserve" price was - and once it was past $80 - I opted out. And in regards to auctions, a reserve price auction is one thing, but we BossArea forum members should be careful to never get into a bidding war amongst ourselves as that only helps the person selling the item to probably get an inflated price. If two or more of us REALLY want something that doesn't come around often ( SG-1 / SP-1 / VB-2 ) we could really skyrocket that price! Obviously I use the same ID here as on ebay ( phenry20 ) so shoot me an email if we ever show up bidding on the same auction and if it's no reserve, we could do an honor system thing and let the person who wants the pedal more hopefully get it at a lower sale price. But of course with some things, I'm sure it will be open season. |
