It was on the cards after the DD-7 hit the shelves, the DD-3 is a classic on a lot of players boards(i have two on mine) and might survive a little longer but eventully i think boss will go totally digital/COSM with it's stuff |

| DD-7 is a huge improvement. The DD-6 will not be missed. I think the lack of the external tap tempo is what really did in the DD-6. |

I think you're right. Boss never officially went on record to say it was discontinued but as usual they just sold off their stock and stopped promoting it anymore. |

| Gotta stick up for DD-6, I thought he was fine!!! Never found myself complaining too much more than any other boss delay. The DD-7 is loaded with features though. |

Depends on stuff....especially the outsourcing of components/cost of production especially in the current economic climate plus the problems in manufacturing some of the components a lot of the places like china are coming under due to massive pollution from some of these facilities, look at Fender/Gibsons problems with putting nitro-cellulose finishes on their relic guitars applied in the 50's,and the problems getting the quality timber at an affordable price without losing sales because of the retail price....i don't know how you guys are faring out in the states but retail sales are down 30% here at the moment and boss are a business with overheads like any other,if something isn't selling...... look at the production numbers in the sticky that bossarea has,i think the FZ-3 was discontinued after only 15,000........there has been a lot of discussion on this forum and others about the merits of one type of pedal over another due to the chip or components used(look at early 60's fuzzfaces for example)...do boss make any analogue modulation pedals anymore except for the TR-2...? as far as i know all the choruses and the BF-3/PH-3 are digital.... and was the DD-6 the last of the 'old skool' delays from boss...? i take your point that possibly the overdrives and some distortions like the iconic DS-1 might survive but what was the last new analogue distortion that boss produced...? i'm thinking the OD-3.. i'm not a collector so i don't always pay a lot of interest in every new pedal they make but the last lot they did with Fender and the FZ-5 were COSM pedals i think...? and all the twin series is COSM... but i think i see what you mean as in the back catalogue will be kept going but it looks like it will only be the DS-1,OD-3 etc....... |

could be..... i don't keep up to speed on all the new stuff and i stopped using boss distortions a couple of years back but all the new stuff like the delays and modulations are going digital/cosm when there seems to be a swing back to analogue with a lot of musicians...... |

Maybe its time to put a mint DD6 to the back of your collections and hope that it goes the same way as the DD5 and 2 and becomes a collectors pedal in the coming years, all though I dont know how many are out there and how many years it would take? |

A person selling a DD-6 locally here in Dublin is looking for 150 euro.......... ....a bit pricey i would have thought... i agree with zerksies on this like my DD-3's and will probably stick with them.. although i was tempted by the RE-20 when it came out,i always had a thing for the space echo or even the original RE-301 chorus echo would be cool..... |
