I've only had the BF-2 and HF-2, imho the HiBand is a better You can get some nice chorus sounds, vibrato, and can really sparkle up another modulation pedal before it. Like a chorus or a phaser |

I was at the rehearsalroom today and testing my pedalboard. I really cant decide wich one to use. Frankly, Im not sure if shall use flanger at all. I really dont find it useful. Does anyone have any good samples of settings and on records etc so that I can hear what the effect can do? I have chorus and a rotovibe and a phaser, so i really dont use it. It feels bad, cause i like the unit, but i doesnt do anything that the other modulation pedals do, its a little same same but different. Im really confused here...
Was at the rehearsal yesterday and now I just love the BF-2. I figured that both chorus and phaser is not that useable in our music, and instead of using three units, the BF-2 do all the stuff by it self. It both does a cool chorus-sound in one setting with the manual knob near minimum, or a jetplane sound close to phaser in other settings. So I decided to put out the PH-2 and the CE-2 from the pedalboard and just keep the BF-2. So now im gonna put in my newly arrived HM-2 and my other new pedal DSD-2 instead. All happy!
bite thy tongue. Chorus and Flanger sound great together. Better yet, stack two choruses and a flanger. leave the phaser out of it. Then use two delays and give up the distortion ;) |

I just tried my BF-2B out with my guitar.. the sound melted my brain!
You can fiddle with some of the trimpots inside the BF2 (carefully) to get some whacked out bendy sounds.

Hi verivorax Welcome to the forum. Sounds like your having some fun, Some of the guys here might have the schematic for the BF-2B if you really want to know what the pots do.

Welcome to the forum!!! The internal trimpots that people like to tweek are the VR7 and VR5. These control the Cl and Resonance. Most leave the Bias pot alone. Take pics, or draw out the original positions of the trimpots before you tweek them.
Sometimes I wish Boss made a Low Band Flanger, opposite the HF-2 |

Last night I had a bit of a "flange-off" between two BF-2's and a BF-3. Truly, there was not a lot to choose between them but I found it interesting that even the BF-2's did not sound identical. For myself, I ended up choosing to keep the BF-2 that sounded the thickest and most analog as a backup for my EH Elctric Mistress. I will say the BF-3 seemed a bit brighter and is, of course, stereo which may appeal to a lot of people. |

Just to answer my own question here, for whatever it's worth...turns out my favourite of the bunch is the HF-2. Still going to keep my Electric Mistress, but I'll RELY on the Boss! |

Has anyone tested plugging a guitar into the Bass input on the BF-3? Will it produce a low band flanger sound or will it just sound crap? |

The same mods from the CE-2 can be done on the BF-2, make it a ring modulator or vibrato, just compare the schems

Hi there! I used to have a BF-2 MIJ and really loved that pedal. But I had to trade it cuz I didnt have money to buy the stuff I needed that time. So, last month I got a BF-2 MIT (yeah you can read my topic about the weird BF-2 label and even see the pics!) and it sounds way better than my old pedal! Its smoother and it sounds clean too! I tried HF-2 and didnt like it cuz it sounded like the DC-2 when a good friend of mine adjusted the knobs (but I prefer the DC-2). Im really in love with my BF-2 and I use it as a Chorus pedal too. It fits very well on my ballads (Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Bryan Adanms wannabie... hahahahahaahaha). So, Im a HUGE BF-2 fan! |

| IMO the MIJ BF-2 is the best Boss flanger. It can get near to chorus, vibrato, it can do subtle flanging and amazing jet engine sweeps. With the res cranked up, the coolest sound is there, especially with some fuzz. Works also great on bass, even better than the BF-2B. There is much more clarity in the tone. Will always be on my board. |

I have owned and modified many MIT BF-2s only to find out that
you can't beat a MIJ BF-2,that sound is really a classic.
I also like the sound of my MIJ HF-2 which is more subtle. It makes for a very groovy bass sound as only upper harmonics are affected. |

| Anyone tried the BF-1? I know it's not a Boss "compact" but I've heard that the sound on 12v is amazing. My guitarist has a broken one (I think it may just be the switch - I'm going to attempt to fix it). |

| bf-2 hands down, the bf-3 does not even come close to sounding as good as the bf-2 |
