So has anyone come across a sound clip? bossus.com has a link to an audio demo but I can't get it to work, just says "connecting to server". I think it's a great idea for a pedal, if only they brought out a scaled down version in a compact!! The RT-2 would have been the perfect addition to my pedal board.

Sadly the absence of a compact this year leads me to believe that Boss are phasing out compact pedal production altogether. It seems they're concentrating on multi-effects and twin pedals now so they can compete with line 6. Or maybe I'm just talking crazy?!

You're not talking crazy but I don't believe they're turning their backs on compact pedals. The stompboxes are so widely used that they probably make up a large part of thir revenue. Phasing out on their bread and butter business would be a huge mistake.

I think they have been concentrating on beating Line6 and therefore focused on multieffects and COSM modelling devices. With more competition in the stompbox market (Behringer, Vox, a number of boutique pedals) I hope they will come back stronger next year with more focus on the compact pedals.
...it could be wishful thinking

I hope they don't make an RT-2 compact pedal. It's a modelling device and I hope they keep all modelling pedals in the twin pedal series. There's already a confusion to which pedals are analog and which are digital.

I too would love to see more focus on the compact line. As we discussed in another thread, I would really like to see updated (meaning additional features and hopefully not "improved" with inferior tonal quality) versions of some old classics. Someone from Boss must know about this forum by now... So if they do, and are reading these posts, maybe we can make them think about the possibilties!
