Some cool videos. Some oneupsmanship for the VG Strat. Any bets on what the MSRP will be on this?

they don't really ever learn do they.....???...gibson and fender brought lots of different'upgrades' to their classics over the years and what do players want..... valve amps and reissue strats/teles/pauls/335's..i'm sure there is a few players that need these tunings for performance, and if your not a rock god with an army of roadies it might be the way to go,instead of a lot of guitars... i think sonny landreth the slide player uses something similar when he goes on the road and just brings the one guitar and pedals and tells the venue to have the amp supplied....

Hi franzoni & guys

Like I wrote earlier,
It seems that the majority of us, want to upgarde to 1950's-60's Technology.

We are all chasing that elusive magic tone, that it is our minds ear.

We GAS out on pedals & guitars in that search, and I have been in that boat since I was 17, and the Guitar Rock God thing bit my then much bonier ass.

I have been lucky enough to have repaired & accumulated tons of gear, both retro & modern and in-between.
But I am telling you, that when it really boils down to it, & I am having a dark tone day, like when everything you try & plug in sounds horrible.
I get out a single 8 foot guitar lead, and connect one end to my Strat-Tele or The G-808 & the other end into the Fender Tube 75.
Then my day just brightens up like a sunny day.

You know, they got it right way back then,
& they probably didn't even know it.

I can hear the naysayers, but until you get a really good valve amp, you won't know what we all secretly know.

Ask pedals 4PV, the latest convert with his new son, the Classic 30, and sorry Defrag, I almost forgot about your new son Mesa as well.

Yes the maintenance can sometimes be a little bit high with vales amps
and yes they are heavy.
But the benifits, far out weigh any of the inconvenience's
And don't try to argue with me, from a non tube owners point of view.

Regards Dr. Bob

Hi pedals 4 pv
Just to get back on topic.

I looked closely at all the pics, on that link for the robot Guitar.
Now I don't want to be negative, but remember I deal with stuff every day.

I can see the following typical emails & calls to Gibson support.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Gibson support:
Please help.
The NIMH - Nickel Metal Hydride battery on my 1 year old Gibson Robot, just spewed itself all over the internals of my guitar.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

How long do I have to charge the batteries in my Gibson Robot?
Do you have different adapters available, as I travel & there are different voltages & mains connectors in different countries.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

The Lithium Ion battery in my Gibson Robot guitar, just burst into flames, is this covered under warranty? or my extended warranty?
Please mail your reply to the burns unit (insert hospital name here)
as my thigh was also severely burned during this incident.
Cool effect though, the Audience thought it was great, & part of the act - till the ambulance came.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

The tuners keep moving by themselves - is this normal?
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Gibson Tech Support, can I get the circuit for your Robot Guitar? My Tech tried to install new pickups & accidentally cut lots of colored wires, inside my guitar.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Where can I buy a new battery, I live in northern Siberia
Do you have a service agent here?
-------------------------------------------------------------------

How much!!!??????????? for a new battery.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Can my tech use your battery to power my active pickups?
-------------------------------------------------------------------

You want what??? for a replacement battery.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Gibson support
I have been lucky enough to buy a Gibson Robot limited edition Series off Evilbay.
I know this guitar is now 25-30 years old, do you still have spares for it?
I have a really knowledgeable guitar Tech.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Can I get 6 new motorized tuners for my Gibson Robot.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

You want how much? for motorized tuners?
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I need a new battery for my Gibson Robot.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I need a new universal charger for my Gibson Robot.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Can I hook up my Gibson Robot guitar, to my HD 60 inch LCD?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you have a manual for your old Gibson Robot guitar?
Thanks Bill from Florida 20th May 2020
PS can I get a new rechargeable battery?
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Will my Vintage Gibson Robot work with my X-Box 5000?
Where do I connect it to?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Can I get new batteries for my 2 year old Gibson Robot?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you have new software for the Gibson Robot?
Or can I program it to play by itself, by putting my fingers in one place, and then getting the tuners to tune to the right notes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Can I put lots of blue LED's on my Robot, Blue LED's look cool.
Can I get new batteries?
Thanks Mickey
-------------------------------------------------------------------

How many blue LED's can I put onto the batteries & how long will they last?
Thanks Mickey
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you sell GIBSON Approved Blue LED's?
Thanks Mickey
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I overloaded the batteries in my Gibson Robot, do you have a new
battery maybe two?
Thanks - PS I'm not Mickey
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Is your Gibson Robot RoHS (Lead Free Solder)
And how long will do you think it will last?
What is the warranty period? Is there an extended warranty?
Will you have replacement PCB assemblies & Tuners, available in the future?
Regards Dr. Bob

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry Guys I just had to get the last one in.

But I guess you guys get or can see the bigger picture.
Would I buy one, Yes if it was at my local Pawn Brokers.

Regards Dr. Bob

Even their promo blurb puts me off:

"For as long as the guitar has existed, guitar lovers have had two choiceslive with a temperamental and out-of-tune instrument or make frequent trips to the shop for setups."

1. I'll take temperamental any time
2. frequent trips to the shop for setups? WTF? Clearly aimed at idiots.

The Gibson Robot is pretty nifty but those vids were both funny & lame! In any case, If I had a couple thou just layin' around doing nothin', I'd check a Robot out. Even though it is progress, what's going to happen to good old vintage turn the damned knobs yourself? Bleh. At least their coming out with new equipment that gives us a choice which is always a good thing. Test the waters, ya know?

The VG Strat is 2 grand so I'll bet this is at least 3. Gibson replaced a tuner for me for free on my Les Paul no problem, but it was a 45 Dollar part if I had to buy it. The cost of one with a stepper motor in it and the Gibson logo is going to be so large.
I the best video is where it kills the Strat.

ok, i agree that it seems a tad wanky that it tunes itself.

BUT! i think the idea behind it is for semi pro musicians who dont have roadies to tune their guitars between songs. once you have stopped playing it tunes itself in seconds. save alot of hassles.

in saying that, if you need to tune your guitar, dont you just talk to the crowd etc?

Sorry to hear that you are down on your luck Jack But cheer up. Those financial difficulties have a way of working out, and you'll be able to aspire to Gibson ownership in the future. I had to finance both of my Gibsons, but now that they are paid off I am happy in the knowledge that I have two of the best guitars available.

Yeah, it was either a house or a Gibson. I can't fit all of my stuff in a Gibson, so I had to get a house
