| I recently purchased a Line 6 POD over craigslist and then I noticed there is a newer version 2.0 but mine doesnt appear to be the newer model. I cant find anywhere online what the differences between the original and 2.0 versions are. Thanks in advance for any information. |

Hi TPCrisis
You don't list your country of origin in your profile. But going by the fact the you mention CL, I assume it's the USA.
Yes you can upgrade the POD - it's ROM-EPROM swap out so it's a combination of Firmware in hardware chip.
You might want to contact you line 6 dealer, Or even Line 6 themselves they were sending out the new Chip for a nominal cost & were asking you to return the older one.
It's not possible to do a flash upgrade on the older POD.
If you go to Line6 & search through their support forum, you will find a document with a list of changes to the 2.x software. Most important & notable is the addition on another 16 or 17 amps models, on top of the ones already listed on the front panel. effectively doubling the number of available amp models.
I don't know Line6's current policy, but it's worth contacting them. In some countries the Chip swap is a dealer/service center only deal.
Occasionally, I have noticed a few of the newer 2.x upgrade chips on evilbay.
Good luck. Regards Dr. Bob
PS - If you have a friend with an EPROM reader burner& another friend with the newer revision POD .... but you didn't hear it from me.

Hi TPCrisis & Guys
I have just uploaded a picture & the higher-Res original blog link, for the POD MainBoard fitted with a version 2.3 ROM-EPROM.
It will give you a better idea of what I'm talking about. It's in the "Pedal Internal Thread" http://www.bossarea.com/forum/pop_preview.asp
The picture clearly shows the 2.3 ROM-EPROM (bottom right) & also the Lithium Battery for the back up memory. (Upper right)
I hope you understood my PS-Hint? Thanks for updating your profile.
Here is a a copy so you don't have to go changing views. Regards Dr. Bob

| Awesome, thanks again. Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a EPROM burner but it's not a big deal because I mostly play metal so it's easy to dial in a good crunchy tone with the version I have. Maybe I'll still look into upgrading sometime in the future. |
