Hey all, I just bought an older GE-7, serial 743300, which was made in January of '87 according to the magical decoder. Is there any major differences between this and a newer one, and does anyone know what the country of origin is? Thanks.

EDIT: Also, anyone know where I can get the slider knobs for cheap?
they say the japanese model produces more HISS when the higher frequencies are boosted. from what i read on this forum, this is one instance where taiwanese is better than japanese
theres also a Quiet Twin mod for the GE-7 in the Indy mod book that upgrades the opamps, better quality caps, and some with different values . Almost describes what Dingus was describing in the thread DrBob found.
The mods work for both mij and mit it seems. The layout got changed. hth
