I'm providing for "reference" a chart of how well the octave oscillators track the incoming note from the guitar on my recently repaired OC-2.

Yeah... from discussions with Dr. Bob, I'm led to believe this is a "good one".
I can tell you it's really fun to play with and if you run past the non-tracking notes quickly, the tracking failure isn't annoying.

| Very interesting! I should make up a chart for the OC-3. A single-coil guitar should be better right? I think I'll use my Ric. |

Yep DeFrag, single coil, probably middle pickup, no fret buzz, and I plucked with my thumb rather than a pick.
sp-1: I'm not sure about versions of the OC-2. Dr.Bob or DeFrag might be able to help? |

| The OC-2 had originally a much lighter non-metallic brown colour and it was labeled "Octaver". I don't think there is anything intrinsically different with the guts. Perhaps it was another legal maneuver as like the DF-2. |

Hi lauries2 try using the neck pickup & roll back the tone, so the guitars signal looks more sinusoidal.
This trick works best on my older "Tracks like Sh!t" Yamaha Effector series - Pre-Boss Octave pedal.
as for the OC-2 differences, Ssanyee posted a pic of his, that shows the PCB with 2 long 14 or 16 pin IC's

| I know one thing, the OC-3 seems to track a bit better with its poly mode. |

G'day Dr. Bob! Thanks for the thoughts! I mucked around some more for maybe an hour trying both guitars on various settings (I have the Aerodyne strat and a PRS). This setting is the best one I've found. I think if I had a normal strat it would be cleaner? (the Aerodyne is maybe 3dB hotter than a normal USA strat)
