| What is your most favorite effect? Do you have an ultimate island pedal? what kind of guitar effect do you covet/worship most, (over-drive, distortion, reverb, delay, chorus, flanger, phaser, wah, ect.) And why do you think so? |

I like overdrives and fuzzes the most, I cant play without one of them as I like my amp to be set for clean, no master volumes or cascading pre-amp tubes. Oh, a reverb is important too. The best Boss overdrive is SD-2 in my opinion, BD-2 is also very good.

My favorite effect has to be the TR-2.
But for the island, I'd probably choose the DD-7 for its versatility.
Other than that, I prefer overdrives over distortions & fuzzes but must have some reverb to open up my tone a bit. |

i've heard of the SD-2! i've never tried one tho lol. is it like the SD-1 but with the ability to push out more gain? the BD-2 is a precious tool! |

oh sweet, nice vintage effect what kind of music do you use the TR-2 for? delay can be so beautiful! and it's that much more with the tap tempo feature |

OMG... Boss should totally make an over-drive/fuzz (BD-2 type pedal) with a subtle on-board reverb, that would sell like crazy! |

Welcome to the forum.... ... probably the TR-2 into a small combo with a strat for a bluesy/ry cooder/crossroads type sound but i would also sneak a patch cable and a DD-3 with me as well when whoever in charge wasn't looking.... .... |

SD-2 is much better than SD-1 in my opinion, the crunch side of it really shines. I dont like the middy nasal sound of SD-1.

I love the BD2 a lot. Use it at as tebleboost, volumeboost and sometimes with a slight bit of overdrive. It does put touch of "mash" on your sound which is what I like.
Use reverb a lot. Both the RV2 and RV3 are great. RV5 is great as well but maybe also a bit of overkill.
GE6 gets used here daily. Very special indeed, recently I noticed on the homepage that the GE6 is based on the MXR EQ. Even before I read that I could hear this. The GE7 is more subtle than the GE6, so you can boost more agressively before you get into unwanted dist. teritory.
I keep changing my set-ups and experiment forever with all kind of sounds. It is a joy to discover that even the most basic set-ups [eq, dist. and reverb] can give one so many flavours.
From changing your set-up you learn a lot about your pedals and they also surprise you at times.
Try seeing it like this: Play and practise on an unamplified electric guitar and treat yourself at the end of the day with an amp and some pedals and you will always look forward to playing.
I have the most fabulous amps around here, but over the last four to five years I have been playing a lot of small and tiny amps with the goal to make them sound great by using pedals. Coming back to my big stageamps I cannot believe my ears. It really is a joy and a treat.
Similar for all the modulation and delaypedals. Do not use them that often as they are so specific, but for playing around they are very good indeed.
When I say specific I mean they take a bit of time to fit into the sound of a song, and I am often around impatient people, so need to get my sound happening within seconds otherwise time get lost. |

I also like the BD-2 cause for it's ability to push a tube amp into metal territory, something noone expects from a pedal called "Blues driver". And even more importantly, it doesn't eat low end. |
