Given that the FBM-1 and FDR-1 aren't strictly effects pedals, but are amp modelers, where in the effects chain would be the best place to put them? At the end, just before the amp? In an effects loop? Any advice? I'm interested in these pedals, not so much for OD/Dist. but to add character to my amp and to give me different "voices," so to speak.
Thanks |

Don't have either of those pedals, but I do have a speaker simulator. Would imagine the pedals would go last before the clean amp. |

Pedals like the FBM-1 should probably go last in the chain. The idea behind that is the FBM-1 is basically a pedal simulating an amplifier, and your amplifier is naturally last in the signal chain.
Of course mixing it up can probably yield some pretty cool results too. |

I've always put the FBM-1 where a distortion would normally be since it acted like an overdrive or even a BD-2. Maybe thats why I don't like the pedal very much but it stands to reason for the positioning. |

I usually have it in the beginning (after an ordinary OD) the chain, as I see it as a distortion/overdrive, but I will try the other way around. I would not put it after a delay or reverb anyway as those sound terrible before distortion/OD.

Hmmm good question Tele_Man.
I'm interested to hear what some of the FBM-1 and FDR-1 owners think and what they prefer!!!

Hi Guys
What do the boss user manuals say/recommend about placement?

The manuals say to plug it into a JC-120 amp or just a clean amp, no distortion/od
Its one of those hard to place pedals like the MZ2(drive-echo)because of the usual order of effects. Tho the FDR has a Gain knob you can pull back if you want to try delays before it.

I have just put my FDR-1 in the pedalboard and have the same problem... Cause, I mainly use it as a tremolopedal with a little dark shitty overdrive that this pedal does nice. Sometimes with a little reverb. So I put it last in chain cause of the "speaker simulator" thing and it really sounds like it should, even in my AC30. Nice all way down to that. But, i really cant put some delay on it or other fun effects, cause then it not sound that good any longer. I prefer tremolo near the end in chain, and reverb absolutely last. So now I have to use it as a single pedal in chain without adding other effects. Works great too, but it is a little annoying that I cant use it together with the rest of my loved pedals... |

Well.. it's not Boss, but my POD2 (only used for amp modelling) goes with my distortion pedals. Laurie. |
