Picked up a second JCM600 head and 1960A cab for my (belated) birthday present. Used, cheap, but in nice condition. My music fund is now in the red...

Hi Laurie

Congratulations, & happy belated Birthday.

Starting to look like my place....

Any chance of some pics of the insides of the JCM600?

Do yo have any fav. POD2 settings?
I have been working on a tweed wide panel rock/crunch tone.

How did you manage to get the POD2 stand? I have been chasing one for yonks...
without any luck, the music stores claim i's a discontinued item...

Regards Dr. Bob

Happy birthday........i love stereo....i take it you don't/won't be hauling these in and out of public drinking emporiums week in and out...otherwise you would of bought two fender blues jr's....... nothing beats the stereo spread of two amps...enjoy.... whats the little amp hiding in the corner....

BTW .....this probably looks like all our spare rooms/garages....

THe little amp is a Peavey classic 30 - that's the one I drag around to my (infrequent) 6-string jam sessions. I usually play bass when I'm actually in a band - I'm a fat-fingerer, so bass is better suited when it's gotta be "right". I have an Eden amp and cab (not shown) for the ESP bass you can see in the pic.

I will take pics of the JCM600 when I strip it down to service it - the new one is noticably "thinner" than the old one - probably because of low quality pre-amp tubes and the bias drifting on the power tubes. Took a bit of fiddling to get the first one "right".

I'm using the POD for "glassy" tone - I'll take a look at the settings when I get down to the room later today. I bought the POD stand about 4 years ago - seemed like a good idea at the time I can see if i can get you one here? Should be still available somewhere...

Nice! I have heard that two Marshalls could strip the plaster work right off the walls, but this is the first real evidence that I have seen. They must be able to hear you in Red Deer, or at least Airdrie!

those speakers on the right hand side....wouldn't happen to be peavey eliminators..looks a bit like a bass bin i've carried in and out of countless hostelries............ and it's not getting any lighter.................BTW i've started using the POD rack unit for reverb and for routing my dynacord speaker sim unit,i found i got the best results with the pod in bypass mode only using it for reverb and maybe some special delay effects.... i set up a amp sim in case the stage amp goes down in the middle of a gig and a acoustic preset for the guitar and the mandolin in it..so far i've got the best results via the pedalboard going into the line level input....i still plan on using my valve amps for the final source of the sound...i'm running the dynacord in stereo into the stereo effects loop of the POD,i'm still messing around and experimenting but so far it's sounding pretty good with the boss pedals and the twin tube.....

Umm... EV Eliminators. yep

They live in my basement until one of my mates needs sound done for a gig. Picked them up CHEAP from a nightclub that went under.

Nope - haven't done anything. I'd be interested in some type of mod that takes the harshness out of it? Thanks for the offer!

There are some mods here for Classic 30 and other amps as well;
http://blueguitar.org/
I haven't done any of the mods, but a good tube change works wonders, and you don't need to set the bias. I have a Ruby tube in V1, JJ Teslas in V2 and V3. For the power section I have Groove Tubes with the 5 rating for normal distortion. I have a cab with a Celestion vintage 30, and it sounds pretty good in combination with the stock Blue Marvel, but I plan to put the Celestion into the amp and the Blue Marvel into the cab one fine day. I have tried it with just the Celestion hooked up and it is an improvement over the Blue Marvel by itself.

Do you have a true stereo set up...
Or is it just dual mono?
