I'd like some help to document changes to DD-2 production. There were 3 basic variants of the pedal, the "first run" pedals had a cream coloured or white coloured raised ink lettering on the control panel with a slightly blueish tinge to the control panel plate itself, and the bottom label was blue; then they went to a silver screen on a true black control panel with a blueback; and finally, they went to a green back. The only way to do this is to post Serial Number and creamink/blueback silverink/blueback, silverink/greenback.
I am curious because I have had about 5 or 6 DD-2s AND THEY ALL SOUNDED DIFFERENT!!!!!! and I'm trying to figure out if production period has something to do with the sound, or if it is just normal variance in component tolerance qc issues at time of manufacture.
So here goes some number of my current and ??? no longer owned pedals
423100 Creamink / Blueback 474??? Whiteink / Blueback Could have been 447??? 489300 Silverscreen / Blueback 508600 Silverscreen / Blueback 525??? Silverscreen / Blueback 586??? Silverscreen / Blueback 620700 Silverscreen / Blueback
Now i'm sure you wanna know what I think the differences are? Here goes 400s with cream ink, had a noticeably more hazy sound to the decays; the 500s were clear as a bell; and the 600s have a dirtier decay sound. Again, It's not like I've gone through and sampled 50 pedals, but it would be cool if we could figure out a pattern here.
Please post in the above fashion, to participate in the survey. Thanks. |

I think we started discussing this in another thread earlier. Have you summarised the data for the pedals mentioned in that thread already? I don't think I have info for more than my own DD-2 but I'll dig it up when I get home and add it to the thread. |

Has more data been found on this issue?
Would people with DD2's like to post their findings?
This thread has slipped my attention, will post my findings later on.
Cheers. |

453900 White raised ink / Blue back
I took mine into the sunlight and the printing looks white rather than cream, was there actually a difference or are they one and the same? Maybe 'cream' is just age-yellowed white?

| By the way I don't think it's silver ink, I guess it's black ink on a silver plate. |
