Hi guys !
I tried to read all i could find about the Boss EH-2, and i am still unsure why there is an EH-2. Some folks compare them to a compressor & some to an EQ - huh ? So, please explain to me as if i am a 3year old . . .
. . . what does the EH-2 do, and will i benefit from getting the used one at my local store !
FWIW :
EPi LP Several Artcores
Big Muff -->BD-2 -->Rat II -->SD-1 -->Small Clone -->DE7 -->Fender Blues Jr.
Thanx Guys ! |

The EH-2 is a type of "aural exciter" that uses existing audio content in the input signal to generate artificial upper harmonics -- high frequency content that might have been lost in the signal chain due to impedance mismatching, non true bypass tone sucking, etc.
If you aren't having any issues like that in your chain you probably won't notice it doing much of anything.

i definately wouldnt call it compression. it is similar to EQ. playing clean, you will hardly notice a difference, but after distortion, the difference is not subtle.
one fact about this pedal is if you put all knobs at 12 oclock, it does nothing to your signal. its at the "low" or "high" settings that it molds your sound. i set the first 2 knobs (i forget the names) at 9 oclock, and SENSITIVITY cranked. this setting adds slight sparkle when playing clean, and "brings out" the sound with dirt. i always have it on at the end of my chain. you may have heard people say "its like taking a blanket off my amp." its true.
i say if its cheap go for it. |

Thax so much guys !
I will go and try it out this week end ! I read somewhere that it works well with acoustic guitars too ! Any thruth in that, as i play my Cort acoustic through my Blues Jr. - will it contribute to the acoustic tone - at all ?

yeah it will!
i used it once at an acoustic gig with just a CE-2 and i have to say it was amazing. it made the cheap guitar i was using sound like a much more expensive guitar. maybe it was all the extra frequency componants giving it a sparkle but i found it to be just darlin' with an acoustic. |
