Some while ago we had a conversation about CS-3 where the majority of us did not like the stock unit at all. So now i'm wondering whether to mod or sell mine?
The only mod i found so far is the monte allums opto plus mod. Does anybody know any other CS-3 mod? I would like to just change some components myself rather than ordering a kit or sending the pedal off. I read somewhere of a CS-3 modded to sound more like a CS-2 can't find that topic now.
The only topic i found is this http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=933
Seems that the monte allums mods aren't too great?
Any help is appreciated. Nosi |

R36 - 100 ohm C2 - .1 uf C1 - .22 uf C13 - 2uf/2.2uf film R5 - 470 ohm R32 - jumper D10 - jumper
C4 - 1 uf film C14 - 1 uf film C17 - 1 uf film C6 - 1 uf film
This seems like a good place to start. When you say jumper do you mean jumper and leave the original component in or remove the original component and then jumer the connection? |

2004 date will be a THAT.
My suggestion - sell it and buy a MIJ version.

Not sure if I understand why. I tried a CS3 and CS2 at the same time, and went for the CS-3 becuase the CS-2 (Jap, silver screw I think) was just plain too noisy. Are they all like that? Is that considered an acceptible trade-off? I know the CS-2's are more coveted...
I can still get that CS-2. |

I don't know about the CS-3 mod, but his GE7 mod is really good. Am considering CS-3 mod. He has more mods for it now. |

Is the Opto Plus mod more transparent too? You know, more subtle, less funk-sounding? It seems you need two types of compressor. One like a CS-3 which has that extra squished sound for funk and country, and a more transparent open one, like a T-Rex Comp Nova.
Monte Allum seems good at making Boss pedals more low-noise. Thanks for the info Zerksies. |

Hi zerksies I was wondering if your CS-3 has the "dBx" Chip, or the "THAT" chip?
I read though the other thread that Laurie is running on the CS-3 in the Boss Pedals Thread. I did not see your CS-3 listed there.
I have always been curious to know, if Monty originally modded the "dBx" or the "THAT" chip version?
Regards Dr. Bob |

It's more of the squishy sound which i love in a compressor |
