What would cause a Monte Allums modded cs-3 to not work on DC power ?
It will perform 100% on battery power . With DC power you can hear a faint amount of sound coming from the amp , but the LED will not light up ?
I'm running a Boss/Roland PSA-120s adaptor FYI ....

Any help would be great !!

thanks !

Are you using the CS-3 on it's own off the PSA adapter...? some of the CS-3's were ACA powered pedals..i know mine is but they need to be in a daisy chain with a Boss PSA powered pedal to work with a PSA boss adapter....worth checking before going mad and pulling the pedal apart...

Hi,

Check D10 to see if it's any good. That diode is in the path straight from the adapter to the input jack of the pedal. R32 is also in that path and it should be 220 ohms.

Hope that helps!

OH wait...

If you have an ACA adapter, and did the mod, you need to remove those two components. D10 and R32, and replace them with JUMPERS. Use the leads from the resistor included with your kit, or the LED leads you cut off.

The new components (especially the dual chip adapter) will not work with an ACA adapter. Read the WARNING on the sheet that Monte e-mailed you. It's right next to the component check list.

I bet that will cure your problem.

Merv

(In case you don't know, I do all the mods for Monte here in the US, if the customer doesn't feel comfortable with a soldering iron)..

Not trying to drum up business, but to let you know that I have done this mod countless times, and have ran across only a very few of the CS-3 with the ACA adapter.

Yes... completely. The ASA is a 12VDC unregulated adapter.

Did you not read the topic...? all you have to do is plug in another boss PSA pedal with the ACA one as normal and run both of them off the PSA adapter and all should be ok...i have used a mix of ACA/PSA powered pedals in this way for years and they work perfectly..
