Hello, I am very new to this. I'm trying to build the Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz (http://fuzzcentral.ssguitar.com/schematics/axisfuzzschem.gif) and have run into some problems. First, I don't know what type or brand of pots to get. Second, I can't tell from the schematic where the stomp switch is connected. Also, can it be wired true bypass? Third, I'm not sure how the stereo input jack works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use 16mm carbon track pots for things like this because they're small enough to fit in pedal-size enclosures, cheap, and easy to solder. If you can't find a 50k of the right size, a 47k will probably do. For bigger units I use 24mm pots with tags rather than legs. Some people like those tiny 9 or 12mm plastic ones, but I'm not convinced about them for panel mounting. They're really meant for soldering direct to PCBs. As for brand, there are several - I tend to use Alpha as they're common and in the types I use they have a good range of values. Some types seem only to be available in very limited values, even just 10k sometimes... and make sure to get something you can find knobs to fit. It's no trouble to cut down a long shaft, but it's not ideal using a grub-screw knob on a serrated shaft as they can slip in use. And also bear in mind knobs/shafts come in 6mm and 6.35mm size...

The stereo input works to link the ground rail of the circuit. Looking at the diagram, the outer shield of the jack connects to circuit ground. The ring of the stereo input connects to battery negative, and the tip connects to your input point. This way, there's no connection between the battery and the circuit till a jack is plugged in, when the ring and shield are joined and current can flow. Make sure you use regular mono jack input plugs for this to work.

Thanks for all of the help! I guess I should have started with an easier one but I have been wanting an Axis Fuzz for a while but can't really afford one right now. I ordered some pots and will be learning all about true bypass wiring I will probably order a kit next, whether this one works or not. I also have a Thomas Organ Crybaby that I want to upgrade to true bypass.
