Ibanez TS808 Reissue OR Maxon OD808?
Choose One and only One. Is there a pedal that is similar to these then that would be an option too. |

Hi hongkong75
You may want to add the Digitech "Bad Monkey" to that list.
There are members here that swear by them. They are easily obtainable & not very expensive. They have a dry output & a mixer-recording output, that has speaker emulation on it.
There is also a bass booster Mod for it, if you want more bottom end. I belive someone posted the mod here on the forum a little while back.
Red the reviews - they are very much in favor of the Bad Monkey. And a few fols have even put there beloved vintage 808's into storage & now use the Bad Monkey.
There is both MIA-USA, made in the USA early model, as well as the MIC made in China version.
They sound absolutely identical, (you'll have to trust me on that) There is no point chasing down an MIA, thinking it has better tone. Unless you do it for patriotic reasons.
If you are handy with a soldering Iron, there are lots of very good clone schematics, & kits out on the web as well.
Good luck on your quest.
Regards Dr. Bob

| Im with Dr Bob on the Bad Monkey, its better than any Ibanez Tube screamer I have tried. And there are few overdrives that I like better than the Monkey. The secret of it is the tone controls, you can dial out the mid peak that tube screamers have (if you wish). |

| I've heard the BBE Green Screamer is good too, as it is a clone of the TS... |

Heard another player using the 4 knob TS-9DX through a crappy solid state practice amp with a 1x 12 speaker a while back and it sounded pretty good.... |

I just bought the TS9DX when in the States, but I have yet to give it a paoper crack through my setup. Sounded good in the shop using a Mexican Strat and a Fender Champ 600. |

Congrats.... like i said i didn't play it but i heard a guy who deps for me when i'm on hols, using it on his board along with a DS-1(for his crunch)mainly for his lead sounds..he was using a strat as well..it also sounded good with the DS-1 mixed in....sometimes it's good to hear a piece of gear from the listeners side of things...i heard another guy with a much better setup (stereo rig and a rack) using a big muff that sounded like poo... ... |

| I also like the Bad Monkey. I just like the Tube screamer sound when on my Strat. The Maxon is awesome with humbuckers |

+1. Haven't tried any TS's or the Bad Monkey, but the BD-2 is sweet. |

A bit OT...but looking at the pedalboards and comments of some of the L.A session guys and artists the likes of Mike Landau and Scott Henderson, they seem to be very fond of the maxon SD-9 sonic distortion.... |
