Apologies for hijacking the thread.

Here is the DF-2 serial that started all of this.
I think a leaky battery was the main cause, of the faded serial.

Every so often I have another attempt, at trying to figure out what the serial was...

Last 4 digits are definitely 4800

Have you tried UV light? Or just a bunch of pics with varying levels of flash and try the same darkening..

I just leaned down and my LCD monitor showed me the "**4800".

I've been busy for an hour, making pics with various levels of flash, different angles, only the light from my lcd, i tried 10x magnifiers and a bunch of filters in photoshop and there's just nothing. OK if you look long enough there might be a 0 but to be honest i think the possible visible 0 is just my mind playing tricks..

i give up.
