hi all....i got a chance to play a rory gallagher strat in rehearsal last night and i have to say it is probably the best strat i've ever played...the sound was all there not too trebley,it has that real rory,S.R.V 'wiry' sound that a good strat has...i always thought that the relic guitar thing was overhyped but.....i'm so smitten by the bug(G.A.S)that i am seriously thinking of selling off a couple of my other guitars to get my hands on one or at least i'm going to check out the other custom shop models but they would have to be really good to top the gallagher strat....the detail is unreal and it even has the old three way selector switch....my mate(who got it as a christmas prezzie off his girlfriend)has even offered to let me play it on a gig which i think would be a pleasure as its easily only half the weight of my american standard that i normally use...maybe john lennon was right about taking the paint off guitars and letting them breathe...something is certainly working here... |

If I ever win the lottery, or have a few grand kicking about I'm getting my ass down to California to the Fender Custom Shop for a fully custom guitar along the lines of this: The pickups are: Red Lace Sensor Dually in the bridge and Blue Lace Sensor in the neck. That and get some luthier to make me a Travis Bean TB500 copy. |

i have two squiers that i bought for 200 euro each...a old jap strat with the clapton system and pickups that i installed and a silver series tele(jap as well) that has some seymour duncan pickups,i seem to be playing the tele a lot lately as i like the sound i'm getting, but that custom shop guitar is in another league.it has that bell like sound but not ear piercing treble but it still cut through no problem in the mix...i used my ds1 as a crunch and kicked in the od2 as well for leads..i never heard these pedals sound so good......squiers are great guitars especially the older jap ones if you can get yours hands on one jack.....tomwest....thats a cool looking guitar bro..have you seen the new jaguar bass fender brought out a couple of months ago with the block inlays on the neck..super....... |

| Getting the GAS is dangerous. It's hard to remain level headed and see things clearly when you want it real bad. I've overpaid for at least 3 guitars because they felt so good when I first tested them. It takes some time to really get to know an instrument. I'm sure playing it at a gig will help a lot though. |

I think it depends on how much the particular guitar (or artist it's based on) means to you.
That Rory Strat is a real work of art in my opinion. So is the new Clapton "Blackie" but boy! they cost a lot $$$$$$
I'm going to try and get my hands on the David Gilmour Strat when it comes out (2008, I believe) as he's my all time favourite guitarist (and Pink Floyd, my fav. band). Probably a little over the top in prices, but I guess they're worth what you're willing to pay. Got to start saving now, though.
I just wish I was super-rich! But I ain't - not even a tiny bit |

David Gilmour Strat in 2008? Is that rumor or confirmed?
Fender Custom Shop has been putting out a lot of nice guitars. I think they are well worth the price. You should try a few before choosing one though. |

Here's a link to what Fender unleashed at the current NAMM convention: http://frontlinelive.fender.com/
How many different companies will Eddie Van Halen have signatutre guitars for? I think its at least a half dozen now...check the link to see what I am talking about, though this one is pretty sweet... |

| It says the EVH series will be limited to 300. They probably will not be cheap. I would rather go with regular Custom Shop stuff, or wait for that Gilmour Strat if that is really going to happen. |

I may be smoking crack here, but I want the replica of the Daisy Rock Hello Kitty pink guitar that Lindsay Lohan played during the credits of Freaky Friday.

Oh, yes. I was in Wien in November, and was 15 euro short of buying squier hello kitty. Now, it wouldn't have been that big a deal if I hadn't bought an ibanez rg7321 15 minutes before in another store.

i think stratman is on the money..i read an interview with gilmour and he mentioned it as well,i think the fellas from the custom shop were already over examining his strat and taking measurements i'm fairly sure his strat has a different wiring layout to a normal strat....bossarea...good advice on the g.a.s..i've been thinking it over...and i'm sort of coming to a stage where i know what sort of sound i want, and what sort of gear i want as well to achieve this,i had thought in the past of changing my amps but the ones i have are at least thirty years old and still going strong and i'm very happy with them soundwise,i love my boss pedals because i can get such a lot of different sounds out of them and my favourite guitars are my fenders and squiers..but i've had lots of guitars over the years and this was one of the best i've ever played..so its either sell off some guitars or sell my van.... i'm starting a new job on monday and they have promised me a van ...and i still have my motorbike if i'm stuck....might be a problem taking all my gear to a gig on the bike.....mmmmm.... ....... |

Cool. I just read over the history of his black strat. It will be interesting to see which version they go with since he made so many changes. I hope it has a maple fretboard. |
