An Ampeg GU-12, probably early '70s vintage. A little bigger than a Fender Princeton, and a LOT louder.

C.K.

Man... I am jealous.

I have a '62 Silvertone 1484 (100 watts) that's in mint condition, and a re-issue of the Ampeg J12-T (15 watt) that I absolutely love.

I'm a tube guy all the way but I think there are a good SS amps out there. This is one of them. The pre and post gain knobs allow you to do from metal to overdrive (very thick OV by the way).

The clean channel is good but I think its flat doesn't have that valve vibe. But is CLEAN and has a treble boost. It has reverb, it his loud, it is alot heavy, more than the new bandits, has a 8 ohm cabinet out and is reliable as hell. I bought it used some years ago and it surelly shows its marks on the enclosure but everything works well. I don't take much care with it, gets bumped alot, kicked, used for vocals, keyboards, guitar, left it in the sun, left it in a cold basement and it still comes back for more.

By the way if you connect it to a 4x12 get ready for lift off!

I just use it now at home and for backup at gigs (although is still to loud for home playing!)

By the way the power amp section has two knobs Presence and T(ube) Dynamics which emulates a valve power section responce.

Go try one! I know that this bandit is gonna be with me a long time...

I use a Roland JC-120, I'd tell you what year, but I really don't know, I do know its not the newest model though but it's in excellent condition, unfortunatenly the built-in distortion sounds like shit. But I got the whole thing for only $350 including shipping, which ain't too bad for a JC-120, it's absolutely the cleanest amp I've ever had.

'92 Mesa Boogie Mark IV Short head (had dual effect loops, newer ones has a 3 jack effect loop)
Mesa Boogie 1x12 Thule tuned cabinet with Celstion Black Shadow
Use 5881 6L6 Tubes (more sponge, feel, and brown) AND switch in MB 6L6 GCs (more crunch)

JV Stratocaster, 1983
76 Re-issue Explorer 1990

truckload of boss pedals my faves
TWO DD-2s stacked
DC-3
HR-2
Oddly enough A PH-2

Had a digitech whammy II that I sold for $200 and still wish I had it even though it was noisy, and did not have true bypass and you could tell it coloured your tone when it was off - that one had to be on its own effects loop.

I recently bought a Roland MicroCube, and I must say that Im very impressed with how much (and good!) sound this little thing is able to produce. And it also has a very good reverb built in, along with some other effects, among them chorus and tremolo.
The MicroCube responds well to pedals but sounds really good on its own too. The COSM architecture really shines here.

Highly recommended!

In another forum that I frequent, a couple of the guys said that the clean channel on the cube 30 & cube 60 is great, but the distortion channels are bad. Does the microcube have distortions?

Grace and peace,

Steve

The MicroCube has a few amp models, and for distortion there are the Rectifier and some Marshall modelings aswell as a VOX modeling. I guess its a matter of preference which one you like best. But the distortions are not bad, and I think the Rectifier mode actually sounds really good.

Currently using a Marshall JCM2000 DSL100 into a Peavey 4x12 loaded with 90watt Sheffields.
For recording I use a Line 6 PODxt with full model packs.

Prior to that mostly Marshall JMP's, JCM800's, JCM900's, Peavey 5150, Peavey Triple XXX, MESA Nomad 100, Ampeg V4, some beatup old 100watt Sunn, various combos.

Carr Slant 6V is my main amp. It's great with pedals. Also have a Marshall 2554 Silver Jubilee, Peavey Classic 30, and Fender Vibro Champ.
