I disagree. I played one, and I found myself wishing I could control some mids. The Core only has high and low. I think the MT-2 (Keeley) is way more versitile, allowing you to dial in more than just one tone. Metal Core is a one trick pony in my opinion.
That being said, the core souned good, but I prefer the MT-2.
Bottom Line for me METAL CORE = MEDIO CORE |

It's hard to get a decent pedal out of a genre that is so bland and uninspiring though |

I was very impressed with the sound samples on bossus.com. Haven't tried the ML-2 yet but if I can get anywhere close to the sound taht the Roland guys produced in the NAMM demos I'll be well chuffed.
I've never missed a mid control on the HM-2 which I've used a lot. The tone controls are so sensitive and have such a wide frequency area that both the low and high controls affect the mid range. Hope this is the case with the ML-2 too. |

That sounds very rude, at first glance I did read MEDIOCRE. |

yep the sound on bossus seemed really nice, this is the kinda sound i'd like to have. I bought a metal muff recently though, I already have quite a lot of work on this one to find my sound :) |

Well, that was obviously the original posters' intention...
I seriously don't think that bashing pedals is ok. Especially when the build quality is quite high with pretty much all the manufacturers lately. It all, eventually, comes down to personal preferences.
I won't even begin to talk about how the same pedal sounds different in a different setup. |

| Sorry if anyone thought I was rude. I was not actually bashing the pedal. I said it was pretty cool, just that they should have gone a little further. I just think it is a little limited in it's application. That is why I poked a little fun with the name calling it "Medio-Core". Sorry if anyone took offense (really? I thought it was funny!) |

| I was just curious about the play on words. Maybe you wanted to say it was half the way to get the Metal sound, so you called it MedioCore. And from that if you take away the "o" you get Mediocre. |

Hey. No offense taken. :sigh: I guess I was just browsing too many forums other than this one.
Put a smiley next time, will you?
Cheers!

No, the Metal Core will definitely give you a metal sound, no doubt about that. I meant it was half way there on features, versatility of use, etc...
All in all, you have to go check it out for yourself. It is a cool pedal, and gives you some meaty metal tone. The orginal poster thought was better than a Keeley MT-2 (which I own) and I disagreed.

i've just got a metal core from my local store. its definatley easy to get a decent plug and play sound out of it. i've not used a MT2 metal zone before so can't compare. but it's i prefer the sound to the MD2 mega distortion which i use a lot
watch this space till i've had a few hours with it. but so far so good !! |

| I just got a ML-2 on Sunday at my local Guitar Center. It was the last one they had. The salesman told me that they can't keep em on the shelf. I was very impressed. To me, it sounds like a compressor, overdive, distortion and EQ all in line. This could be my new desert island pedal. I think it's the first time I've ever plugged a single pedal into the front end of an amp and thought "Wow, this is all I need". It's a thick rich and smooth distortion. The level knob produces either a boost or cut in volume, the bass knob produces either a boost or cut in bass. The treble knob produces either a boost or cut in treble and the distortion knob adds more and more distortion as you turn it up. Great sustain and very smooth distotion. It was hard to get a bad sound out of this. |

Hi strat714 What type of music do you play? It seems that the ML-2 is aimed more at metal guitarists. But does it clean up a bit for other styles of music, like Rock, & maybe "searing blues runs"?
