I actually joined boss area forums to share with you all my good fortune.
yesterday I looked in the local newspaper "for sale" section. Someone was selling a "Boss delay pedal, good condition, 35 pounds". I thought it seemed like a reasonable price for a dd-3 or maybe a dd-2. I phoned him up to ask about it and he said it's just the basic 3 dial delay, he's been gigging with it for a few years but doesn't really use effects anymore. I didn't quite believe he meant one of the older delay pedals, but i wanted it either way. We arranged to meet up today and he produced a boss DM-2 in near mint condition, boxed. I couldn't believe my luck (which has also seen me buy a completely mint, boxed and instructions GE-7 in the past for 15 pounds...).
Needless to say, I love the delay, it's the most musically rich delay I've ever had the pleasure of using
first post out the way! |

haha, well I don't have much luck in normal life, only in boss pedals (not that I'm complaining of course!)
Would anyone recommend any other boss pedals that are rare/expensive but actually musically useful? I might get lucky again |

| By the way, I just checked the serial decoder and apparently my DM-2 is from November 1981, making it fairly early. Is this at all preferable? Also, I've heard some pretty mixed reviews of the PN-2, is it really any good at anything specifically? I'm in the market for a tremolo at some point but the Boss TR-2 doesn't seem to stand out much, is the Pn-2 better or just different? |

From a collectors point of view I prefer to have them as early as possible... if the design/circuit/label changes during the production i prefer the early bird (or all the variations )
The PN-2 have been discussed in some earlier thread - but to sum it up I think I recall that the general (as well as my) opinion was that the tremolo kind of sucked - TR-2 is way better. Where it really comes to life is when using it for panning in stereo - WAU
Cheers
.. and try to get your hands on a DM-3 - you wont regret it |

Ah fair enough, I might be tempted by a TR-2 in the future. I think my DM-2 is the first model which is good. How does the DM-3 differ from the DM-2? I've read about the noise cancelling circuit but how does the sound of the pedal differ? |
