I was just thinking, if I was a Boss executive, I would change the looks of all pedals, every year! I mean have like an annual theme: different fonts, different buttons, different colour(-patterns).
In this way, all you collectors out there, would be 'forced' to buy every pedal, every year!!
What do you think?

I think part of Boss's success is that they keep the pedals looking the same year after year. Ibanez has changed their pedals over and over. Some models have become classics but most designs are dissappearing into the big void. I don't see this happening to Boss pedals. Even the ones that doesn't sound particularly good are instantly recognicable and we already know that the tank design makes all Boss pedals almost unbreakable. |

Actually, you're right Bossarea. A DS-1 still looks like a DS-1 even if it has been around since 1978. And indeed the classic Boss-design doesn't need an update.

I have customized a few of my pedals by repainting them. Of course they don't have the names on them any more, but it looks cool. Maybe when I have more time I'll set up a little screenprinting station and make a stencil of the names/fonts to put them back on. It's time consuming, but it's cool on modified pedals. Maybe I'll do them like DS1X or something like that.  |

You should have some fun and rename em to like 'Superman Overdrive' on the SD-1 or 'Taser' instead of Phaser  |
