Has anyone tried one? Someone is selling one locally for $100, which sounds like a good deal. I like the HF2 over the BF2, what would the BF1 sound like? |

That is a good deal. I'd pick it up.
Bossarea member Skugga has a BF-1 which we are currently trying to repair. When it does work it sounds pretty good. If you run it at 12V instead of 9V it sounds awesome.
If you don't like it (unlikely) you can always onsell it, and I reckon you shouldn't have too much trouble getting $100 for it (I'd buy it off you for that).

I thought the reports on the forum were there was little sonic difference between the 1 and 2 versions..i have the BF-2 but looking at this video on youtube i reckon the BF-1 has more sounds available and is a bit warmer sounding....

I like the chorus sound it produces..nice and warm..the first flange sound he uses, sounds like the guitar sound on the 'Highwaymen' album from the 80's especially at the beginning of the title track....and the real waterey sound at the end is also great....sort of like what Gilmour used on parts of 'echoes' or like something Radiohead would use... |

The BF-1 is the best flanger i've heard. I'm not usually a flanger fan but when we got it working at 12v it sounded pretty special.
I've used a BF-2 a fair bit but never put them head to head. I can't believe I left the BF-1 unplayed for years in a box.
The BF-2 always struck me as being too in your face. At 9v the BF-1 is a bit warmer. At 12v... |

Got the BF1 just before he put it one evilbay for $100, he even drove over to my place. When I punched in the serial number 968000, it gave me Nov '88 The 4558D JRC chips have a date code of 0188, and from looking around, its from 1980. Some of the transistors have '80 date codes too (F04A)
Thats a really nice flanger, totally clean sounding, even sounds great after a Shinei fuzz. Can't wait to try it with a 12v adapter. The bottom plate is covered in black tolex like material.
Funny thing is I punched in "roland" into evilbay and a AP2 Phaser for 50$ was ending in two hours. That'll be coming in the mail in a couple weeks |

I'm currently looking for a Shin-ei Fuzz wah... Will have to try Skugga's BF-1 after it (when I eventually find one) |
