i dont own one, but apparantly they are very dated as they can only provide 800 MS of playback (sampling) the newer delay pedals can do at least double that.
i heard that soundwise, they are nothing special making this more of a collectors pedal than anything. |

| I own a DSD-2, and as far as I know, it's the only two-mode digital delay you can get by Boss. It just has short and long mode. I haven't played a DD-2 (which I've read is what the DSDs' delay is based on), but when you switch modes, the sound does not stop completely like on a DD-5 and DD-6 (and probably DD-3); it carries over. This was a feature I very much liked on my first delay pedal, the Dan-Echo. The delay itself is very nice. It's not bright at all, as some digital delays have been said to sound. Shifting with the time knob never fails to satisfy, and it can even self-oscillate with feedback all the way up in short mode. The short sampler isn't that great. There's not too many things you can do with 0.8 seconds. I only really use it to sample something and then shift the pitch. My other favorite is to keep it on record/play and just hold the pedal down for infinite overdub. Kind of like constant overdub on the RC-20XL, except it gets out of hand a lot faster. The DSD-2 never leaves my pedalboard. |

| Nothing special? It's a tricked out DD-2. Yeah, the sampling time is short by today's standards, but its better than no sampling mode at all. It also has the trigger in jack, that lets you hook up a drum machine so that the repeats synch with the beat the drum machine is putting out. Pretty darn kewl - does the DD-20 even do that? I'd take one over a standard DD-2 or DD-3 any day. |

Gurran, there is one DSD-2 at GMF-Planket right now, 900:-.
DSD-2 is an OK delay but the sampling time is way to short. |

Yep, DSD-2 and 3 were from a time where 800ms were eternity. Now, it's just silly.
As a delay, I don't really see how it could be better than a DD-2/DD-3 (and let's not speak of the DD-6...).
As a sampler, it's as said above, silly... Wait for the RC-2.
Personnaly, I see only a collector value in DSD-2 and 3. |
