Prior to joining this forum, i always assumed newer the better, however, I'm learning that this isn't the case at all. I've heard a lot of comments that indicate older pedals tend to be favored.
So, having said that, just curious to know if older Phaser pedals also fall into this category. If so, which ones?
There is a guy local to me who is selling his 1987 Japan PH-2 for $40.00 Says it's in excellent condition despite missing two knobs (which I assume can be gotten from Boss) |

There is a load of topics about phasers on the forum... the PH-1 and 1R seem to be the favoured of the boss ones although some people like the PH-3...i have the PH-2 it's a bit of an aquired taste in phasers..if your looking for a classic 70's type phase sound probably better getting a 1 or 1r....or even maybe considering a phase 90 or EH small stone.... |

| Actually, I got a little a head of myself. It's not the phaser I'm wanting, rather it's the flanger I'm on the hunt for. However, that's going to wait until after i get a delay. |

Hi Guys
The PH-2 is a 12 stage Phaser.
These can sound strange, as we are more used to hearing 4 stage, and 10 stage Phasers.
The highly sought after PH-1 & PH-1r, are both 4 stage Phasers.
The PH-2 is best suited for things like: - Experimental - Reggae - Synth - Or for something completely different sounding. And I'm sure there are others that I have missed.
The PH-2 doesn't seem to have much of a following with the members on this forum.
But Tone is very much a matter of personal taste.
For me, I would use it more with my experimental stuff.
As a Phaser, it really stands out on it's own. And I'm sure in years to come & future trends in music, it will also become a classic.
I have only experimented with mine for a very short time, as it only arrived during our Christmas break, & yes it really leaped of the floor tone wise.
Regards Dr. Bob

Andy Summers, here I come!
(I use the Digitech Hyper Phase, which models a 4-stage phaser (MXR Phase 90), 8-stage phaser and a 12-stage phaser. It sounds quite cool.) |

| My favourite Phaser these days is a MicroVibe from Voodoo Labs.... it's a bit noisier than the Fulltone Vibe but it's smaller and WAY cheaper. |
