| Yep, I tried that too. I was looking for the Deep Purple, Fireball fuzz sound. I got some cool sounds but not the one I was looking for. |

| I never tried the MT-2 with bass, but I have used an HM-2, and a HM-3 on a bass. The sound is interesting, and really heavy. It's a good industrial sound. I really like using the DS-1 for bass. nice and crunchy, and a bit more dynamics. Give the DS-1 a try sometime. i think you'll be suprised. |

| I'll have to give the DS1 a try some time. In the past I had used a couple of different distortions on bass and it always got lost in the mix, but the MT2 did quite nicely since it has the advanced EQ section. Has anyone tried the FZ2 or FZ3 with bass? |

I use mine in two ways:
1) Distortion around 10 o'clock, with the EQ tweaked for a pseudo-ODB sound.
2) Distortion maxed, with scooped EQ, and played with a pick. Squealing harmonics and low-end chug... who needs guitar? ;) |

| The FZ-2 is AMAZING on bass! Mode II is the best. One thing is you gotta lower the bass and boost the treble. the gain boost is really good for a clean boost too. |

the FZ-3 is ... interesting when used with a bass (in my case, a Fender P/J into a solid state GK 800rb). the sound it makes isn't entirely bad, but it's one dimensional and if you hit a string a little bit too hard, it sounds like you're about to blow out the output transformer. and the FZ-3's controls really don't have a very wide range of useful settings with a bass. oh, and you can forget about playing two-note 'chords' on a bass, or playing fast while using passing notes with the FZ-3.
finally, the FZ-3's circuit is based on the Fuzz Face, so like other FF clones make sure you do NOT use an alkaline battery -- use regular carbon batteries instead.
p.s. arcanon1313, thanks for the tip on the FZ-2; I know a guy who has one, so I'll have to borrow it and try it out! |
