I bought my first pedal last year from Germany an that was SD-1. I was amazed by its sound. And I become a Boss maniac. Then I bought DS-1, MT-2,CS-3, NS-2, Ch-1 and DS-2. I`m very pleased by the quality.

| I bought CE-2 as my first Boss pedal about 5 months ago. I just joined a band at that time, and needed a chorus pedal for a couple of songs. CE-2 sounds just great (even) with Les Paul Custom with single coil PU's. The fat tone created by LP Custom makes the warm-toned analog chorus sounds even warmer! It matches the whole mood of the songs perfectly. If you want a thick, warm chorus tone, CE-2 is definitely the one you should get. |

| Not sure what the reasoning was, but my first was a BF-2 Flanger. Next was an MT-2. |

My first was a Sd-1 but I took it back for a Ds-1, which I still have today.

Don't know what my reasoning was on the BF-2 either. But something before that.
I had people send me broken pedals, I would buy them from them for $10-$15, and fix them and either sell it back to them or somebody else, or keep them for future projects. One guy sent me his broken MIJ metal-screw CE-2 for $10, so in a way that was also my first pedal (I think I acquired it before the whole BF-2 business, but it was broken when I got it and I did not intend to have/keep a working CE-2 at the time). It was a little beat up but the only really bad thing about it's appearance was one of the knobs was partially broken. I opened it up and saw that the entire pot had turned to the side and shorted out to the case. I assumed that he dropped it which broke the knob and moved the pot, figured that he had broke it and it was worthless now, and sold it to me on that premise. I turned the pot straight and it worked, sounded beautiful, better than any effect pedal I had used up until that point. Knowing that this was such a valuable pedal and that he loved it so much (he told me that he did before he sent it), I notified him of the problem and offerred to sell it back to him with a fee for covering the shipping cost back and forth and a modest profit of $5. Before I sent it to him the battery clip broke, so I to replace that and charge him for that, too. But all was good and I enjoyed doing the right thing.
I bought a BF-2 new during that same school-year (1998-1999, I was in high school) (technically that was my first Boss pedal that I intended to keep), realized that I could not afford the price, found out about the MIJ/MIT difference, returned it (which is why I don't really consider it to be my first Boss Pedal), and later bought an MIJ BF-2 with cool old-school black knobs for less than what I paid for the new MIT BF-2. |

| Can someone point me to the "Favorite Boss Pedal" thread? I can't seem to find it. |

GE-7, bought in the Spring of 1990 as I was not happy with my distortion sound from my amp. Did not want to buy any distortion pedals as I felt like I had one on my amp [little did I know at that time about sound......] thought an Equalizer could help me.
Well it did, was able to dial in much brighter distortion sounds than before, was also able to make my Les Paul sound like a Strat [Why would you ever want to do that???!!!]on the clean amp settings.
It would take a good long time before I did get my second Bosspedal, and then it would even take much longer before I got hooked.
Starting seriously with recording made me look at pedals in a different way, it is during these moments where these little metal boxes really shine.
I hear people talk about "Not having much use for a OC-2" or "Not really liking a BF-3" or something similar..............well to be honest most of the time I play it is without any pedal at all, but during recording I will bring in whatever sound I am looking for.
It is really fun to play with a pedal a whole night, just tweak and listen and discover all the colours it has, it can be just as simple as a DS-1 with all its subtle nuances or it can be a drastic as the AW-3 [Yes I know it is digital, and..............but it can create some lovely sounds too!!!] |

Cna't believe no one else has said this, DS-1 was my first pedal. Bought it new in 1996. Still got today, along with 17 other boss pedals and other boss gear. Last one purchased: A Digital Metalizer for $16 cause it didnt work. I got it to work in about 5 minutes! |
