| in general, what do you guys think of these little boxes. I hear a 70s or 80's distortion and phaser are the way to go. |

| Ive had Distortion + and the one knob phaser (Phaser 45??), I liked them both a lot back in the 80s. Expensive pedals compared to Boss back then. |

I like them... I have a Dunlop JHS Fuzz, MXR Distortion + and the new Distortion III, which is great; it's a superb overdrive - really quiet and can be used in front of other distortion pedals without noise issues.
I've always wanted one of those big yellow stereo choruses they make - the sound clips I've heard are very very good indeed. |

Hi Caliban
There is an MXR Dual Chorus at a broker near my home. They were asking double the new .Au price, so I obviously passed it up, until I actually new it's current BIN evilbay price of $167Au.
I might go & have a look if it's still there, armed with printout from the BIN advert. I know the dealer really well, so I might see if he's prepared to deal on it.
Can I ask you to post the link to the demo files of the Big yellow dual chorus?
I too have the JHS Fuzz the original MXR one not the Later Dunlop one.
Regards Dr. Bob |

I read some of the reviews on the musicians friend webpage...this one sounds right up your alley Dr Bob....regular readers will know that the doc has one or two chorus pedals in a multi quadrophonic setup already....mostly a two knob, blue, mono chorus by a obscure japanese company whose name escapes me at the moment.... .... ... |

| I like 'em. I played one of the new Distortion III pedals at a shop a while back and really liked it and plan on picking one up in the near future. Anyone else try/have one? |

I've got a rather dumb question. does anyone know what kind of power source mxrs use? My boss power source cables obviously don't fit in haha. is there a female/female piece that I can use so I can keep using my same cord? thanks cheers
btw, its an 80/81 model. I know the newer ones have a 9v. |

One of the first pedals i ever used was a an original MXR micro amp a great little booster pedal,it belonged to the guy who taught me how to play guitar,he also let me borrow his original EH small stone phaser for a gig,he used to keep them under his bed 'cause he was more of an old skool 'guitar into an amp' sort of guy..later i found out he traded them off in part exchange for a jap strat... no one knew back then(early 80's) that this stuff was gonna get collectible and rare....i've heard that the newer MXR stuff isn't so hot but i played with a bass player that used one of their preamp D.I. boxes and it sounded great,it also looked and felt like it was bulletproof..... |

I still have my block logo Dyna comp and Phase 100 from 1979. Bought 'em both new. Great boxes, a little low fi compared to Boss gear. Dyna comp - OD-1 - Phase 100 had a good sound into my JCM-800. |

Looks like the power inputs off the old Dod/Digitech pedals....i've bought spurious transformers(i think you call them wall warts) over the years in electronics shops and most of them come with a set of adaptors for different inputs like this...somewhere like radio shack would be your best bet..in ireland we have a place called maplins or radionics who stock this kind of thing.... |
