A pedal which is "overlooked" by most of us??

It does not get mentioned often [check out all the pages here!!]. TW-1 seems to be more popular, but the FT-2 is the improved version, more versatile, and more stable sound [no wabbly notes as on the TW-1].

If you have not tried you dynamic filter pedals for a while, have a dig into the TW-1, FT-2 and AW-2 and see how you feel about the FT-2.

Like most of you [I guess!!] I had somewhat "forgotten" about the FT-2, as I dig the funkyness of the TW-1, and was somewhat surprised by the quality and vibe of the pedal when I tried it last night.

FT-2 has always been my favorite of the wah/filter pedals.

I recently A/B'd my TW-1 and FT-2.. I love the TW-1, and I find it warmer, but the FT-2's effect is much more pronounced. I'd probably gig with the FT-2 which, despite being rare, I consider less rare than a "Touch" TW-1.. also less fragile!

I suppose the choice really depends on how subtle an effect you're looking (listening?) for.. I bounce both halves of a delay around with different filters - finicky with the triggering from a delayed signal, but wonky fun nonetheless.

On a related note.. I just secured a near-mint FT-2 with box and papers!

Congrats.

Any chance you might post some pics into the New pedals thread?

I also prefer my FT-2 to my TW-1.

Side note: I think Jerry Garcia use the FT-2 for a time.

Do I get this right? You split the signal of a delay into a dynamic filter? Cool! I have been experimenting with that sound recently, also been using wah at the end of signal for similar reasons, to get the wah to play with the whole soundchain and the delay in particular.

And yes the TW-1 is much warmer in sound, but the quality of its sound is not so great.

what I like about the FT-2 is that it gives you UP and Down and let you choose which frequency you want to use in both modes. Now the Up-mode [as most of you filterguys will know] is that commonly used Wah sound, I really like the Down sound, and with the frequency set in the low register as well. The TW-1 will give this sound as well, but with the FT-2 you can tweak it more to your likes.

Great to see that quite a few of you dig the FT-2. Had a feeling people did not care that much for it really.

what do people here think of the FT-2 versus AW-2? how do they match up?

i have the AW-2 but i find it can be unusable as the signal gets weak and a bit thin with the pedal engaged. the actual sound is fine and it is working properly but when i turn it off it sounds like my sound doubles!!

That sounds like the usual older Dunlop Crybaby scenario.

Will play through the AW-2 later on to see what I think, have not played through it for quite some time.

I am still appreciating my TW-1, but I think the expression potential with the FT-2 makes it more versatile. It even works well with the cheap Roland expression pedals. Both pedals have their advantages.

Mix it with a XT-2 Xtortion and you can pull off some funky distortion

Another funky sounding distortion: TW-1 into HM-2= very extreme brightboost!!

It should off course read: HM-2 into TW-1, but most of you will know this anyway In this order the TW-1 will no longer do its dynamic play very well, but will just act like a treble booster for the HM-2.

HM-2 not trebly enough? The TW-1 makes it sound more like a much older pedal, like a more primitive 70s beast, maybe like an oldfashioned one-sound Fuzz.

Im looking for a FT-2, so this was a nice thread. I already have a TW-1 and a AW-2 and find the TW-1 cooler, but with a crappy sound actually. The AW-2 is as they say cool after twiggeling with the knobs for a while a really cool pedal. It can do really twisted sounds. Like the intro to Diamond Sea with Sonic Youth for example. I like it a lot, but it does not have a place in the pedalboard.

well isn't the FT-2 a low pas filter and the TW-1 a bandpass filter?
