G'day! I've been very fortunate to have had a fair bit of interest in the couple of pedals I've designed (both from folks on here, and folks locally). Thank you!
It has become apparent though that I am too much of a "techie" and am not really that good at marketing! Calling my "HZD" pedal the HZD makes perfect sense to me ... High-Z(impedance)-Driver, but, yeah, it doesn't tell a guitarist much!
So I need your help. I want to rename my LauriePedals and am having trouble coming up with names. I've started with the HZD, and because it is based on the old FA-1 and is made using techniques from the 1970's/80's, I've come up with: - Boutique Booster - Old-school Booster - Vintage Booster
I kinda like "Vintage Booster", but would really appeaciate any thoughts you might have...

What about spelling old school as .... Old Skool...to grab the attention or OSB ..Old Skool Boost
or you could always call it the Tony Franzoni custom booster...or TF-1.... .. ...
Edit... i actually like the HZD boost too as a name just thought you might want a variation on the old school name if you had your heart set on changing it... |

How about: Laurie's Lil' Booster
Laurie's Line Boost
You could perhaps use the initials and call it a Hertz, or Hz-Driver...even though it doesn't make sense, like Swollen Pickle does...
Retro-Booster
Bell Bottom Booster...
Those are just a few off the top of my head for now...

I actually like the name HZD. I knew it stood for High Zsomething (Z) Driver, so it was pretty self explanatory I thought. The Z in the middle adds an air of mystery! I don't care much for any of the other names. If I was to suggest something, how about... The HZD FA-Boost Clearly states your own name for the pedal, and hints at where the design originated. I'd still stick with the just HZD though. No one knows what any name on a pedal means. I til this day don't know what kind of pedal a Zvex 'Woolly Mammoth' is? Just make sure your blurb explains everything about the pedal. |

Thanks for the input! I'm more confused than ever...
I'm leaning maybe toward the "HZD Booster"?? What do you think?

One thing I should mention... none of my pedals have any sort of labelling at the moment (that will come later, when I've managed to figure out the art of screen printing ). The mock-ups above are "for illustrative purposes only".

Nah, you'll be likely BOO'ed off stage with a pedal like that
Any off the HZD variants works for me.
Or what about Hi Z Driver? |

Hi Laurie
Apologies for not responding to this post.
But as you know, a fair amount of stuff has been happening over here.
Let me sleep on it for a bit. I'll keep a running list of thoughts for you.
Regards Dr. Bob |

Hey Laurie, I like your latest mock up here "HZD Booster"... Although these are boutique enough to not actually require any markings at all. It's not like you *need* to market these pedals anyway, unless you plan on producing them in large quantities...
I think a good clean marking free pedal looks awesome (like in the pics on your web page).

Yep...i agree gives tham an air of mystery and looks very classy...like when you see gilmours old stuff with the early pete cornish pedals on it with the stuck on labels... |
