The bottom line for the MD-2 depends on two things:
1) Are you using a single-coil or humbucker system?
2) If you like Nu-Metal or not, because I guarantee you that people will be reminded of every late 90's/early 2k nu-metal band out then/now the second you step on this thing. I personally do not like Nu-Metal and therefore hardly ever use this pedal.
With that being said, I am sure there is a very interesting combination you could make involving this pedal because of the low-end alone.
Also here is a quote about this pedal from the HC Users Forum:
I can simulate many artists with this little stomp box. It packs alot of punch, and you will see that with some tweaking, you will find that it can simulate heavy guitar sounds. It cannot get a Metallica sound, but can get a good Nirvana sound. I have found Staind, Godsmack, Black Label Society, and Disturbed settings on this.
I personally disagree with that comment about Nirvana as Cobain used a DS-1, for a while a DS-2, a ProCo Rat, a Sans Amp Classic, a Univox Super Fuzz, an MXR Distortion + and Two Vox Tone Benders Fuzzes (see http://www.kurtsequipment.com) |

thanks for the info Dingus... My main guitar has 2 humbuckers. i have 5 other Boss distortions/OD's, and wouldnt be using this as my main distortion anyway. i dont really care too much for nu metal, but it will be nice to have the option. i got one off ebay yesterday, so it should be here within a few weeks..

I use the MD-2 with telecasters. It has a good high gain mesa sound, not too scooped at all.
Works well with my roland bluescube amp. |
