Maybe it's too subtle to notice but when I turn my DM-2's "Repeat Rate" nothing changes? It sounds like the repitition rates stays static.

Almost certainly a broken wire OR the shield at the pot end is shorted to one of the pot terminals... Had a couple of these past my bench.
Open it up and check the wires going from pins 13, 15 and 16. Wires from 15 and 16 should go to two terminals on the repeat rate pot, wire from 13 should connect to the shield around the other 2 wires, but must not touch anything at the pot end. |

Thanks Laurie that was it!!
Opened it up and one wire to the terminal had come off.
Guess I've been in and out of this pedal too frequently lately. Once doing the one wire mod to make the LED work. And a couple of other times til I found a chip that needed re-seating (the pedal didn't work at all at one point).
Btw having done the one wire jumper to make the LED work with a non-12 volt ACA or a PSA power supply: Should I be concerned if there is a battery connected when I use the power supply? The quote below had me concerned. It was taken from the FAQ but in reference to a CE-2 and the mod. (I just post a note asking asked why in the FAQ)

I'm guessing you are talking about jumpering D5 (and presumably R53) in a CE-2 ... D1 and R2 are the equivalent in the DM-2. This mod is to allow the pedal to operate from modern PSA 9VDC regulated supplies. This makes the LED glow brighter when used with a PSA adapter... (and gives more headroom to the pedal)
So, if this is the mod, then it will not cause any harmful effect with a battery installed - all modern PSA pedals work like this.
If you have jumpered these components, however, it is critical you only use a regulated 9VDC adapter (the PSA) from then on. I have little stickers I printed out to stick near the DC jack that say "PSA ONLY" when I do this mod.

Why is that? I did the same thing to my CS-3 but it works fine on both types of adaptors (both PSA and ACA).
Only when daisy chained with a 2nd pedal it starts to hum with an ACA, and it's all dead quiet with a PSA, but I assumed that was the whole deal with the different adaptor types. |

ACA is non-regulated, so that's where the hum comes from.
An ACA adapter with a small load can be up to 18V. In some pedals there are components with maximum voltage ratings of less than that, risking the possibility of frying those components. MN3207 chips have a maximum supply voltage limitation of 11V, for example.

So an older ACA power supply will/ may cause damage? Yikes.

That's the standard "PSA mod" - that jumper takes a diode and resistor out of the circuit, and that diode/resistor combination is what drops the ACA 12V down to 9V.
It's not recommended to use an ACA adapter on any pedal that has had this mod done... (just like an ACA shouldn't be used on a modern PSA pedal).
