There's been a few discussions about the MIT vs MIJ pedals, but I hadn't seen much refrencing the CE-2. (Sorry if I've missed it) I know I much prefer my MIJ DS-1 to the late MIT's, but the early MIT DS-1's are pretty good aswell. Reason I'm asking is that I won a MIT CE-2 today on eBay, for what I thought was a reasonable price, and I wanted to see what your thoughts were on comparing it.

| I recently bought a MIT CE-2 and to my ears it sounds identical to a MIJ CE-2 I once owned. However, I opened it up and found that my MIT has the MN3007 BBD using MN3101 clock driver, which is what the MIJs had. I believe the MIT CE-2s eventually changed this, so I apparently got an early one before the change. You might want to open yours up to see what it has. Also, on YouTube you can find some videos posted that do comparisons between the two. Most people can't hear a difference, and if so, not much. The CE-2 is just a sweet pedal, wherever it was made! |

Yeah me too. I have done the full factory operating point recalibration on my MIT CE-2 (http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5738) and it looks and sounds exactly the same as my MIJ one.
I reckon screw the mojo on this one... go for the price

I didn't think I did bad for an unboxed CE-2 MIT for 35.15. Just need to wait for it to arrive before I count me chickens. Looking forward to it coming though. I've been putting the aquisition of the CE-2 on the back burner for a while. Hopefully it will replace my EHX Small Clone, and look more tidy on my Behringer PB1000. God damn my OCD.... |

| That's a good video! The guy sounds a lot like Jack Black from the movie School of Rock, too. |

Oh man, don't start this debate. It's all over his videos and on TGP, is it or isn't it Jack Black? |

+1 for the MIT. I couldn't detect any difference at all between the tone of the MIJ and MIT when I A/B'ed a pair.

Great price!
I also compared my MIT CE-2 to the Small Clone, and found the CE-2 to let more bottom end through; that coupled with the more flexible modulation control marked the CE-2 as a keeper - I now only use the CE-2 for mono and CE-3 for stereo. All the chorus I need.
For now. |

Ive heard/read the theory that the MIJ CE-2s was better calibrated than the MIT CE-2s, and thats the reason that some find the MIJ to sound better. But there is more to it, there was a topic not long ago that the components in silver screw versions had better component quality. I dont know if thats true. Anyway the difference is not huge, I had a SS MIJ and a MIT at the same time some years ago and I found the MIJ to sound better. But that dont tell much, it only tells that my MIJ sounded better than my MIT, nothing else.

Hi florian Welcome to the forum from Australia.
Congratulations on your New-old MIJ CE-2. You may have read? I have a soft spot for CE-2's MIJ or MIT.

Interesting... I've calibrated my MIT but not either of my MIJ CE-2s. The MIT wasn't far out of spec... just a quick tweak (after 20 years use). |
