Does anybody know when Touch wah became T-wah?

I have three silver screw TW-1 with the following serial;
Touch Wah: sceleton switch, ser no 7600
Touch Wah: sceleton switch, ser no 7400
T-Wah: sceleton switch, ser no 9900

If all that have T-wahs submit their serials we could probably nail the transition time, so go on

T-Wah: Black switch, serial/batch number 0500

Interesting that your T-Wah SN 9900 has a clear switch... my DS-1 SN 8800 has a black switch. Maybe it was replaced?

Off topic, but an important data point... I recently repaired a skeleton switch OD-1 and a previous repair (that I had to clean up) had replaced the skeleton switch with a black switch.

I can state for the record - a black switch will not fit where a skeleton switch originally was. The hole has to be enlarged, plus a piece of foam/rubber is necessary on the back of the treadle because the shaft of the black switch is about 2mm shorter than the black switch.

The bottom line - if the skeleton switch has been replaced with a black switch, you'll see the "scars".

Its impossible to replace a black switch with a transparent, as Laurie says, the hole is to large.
I could be that Boss made a large amount of chassies with small hole and that mine was in the bottom of the bin, just like Fender did with neckplates.

9400 must be getting close! I have 7400, touch, mint cond. but needs work. It hums when engaged, and has been modded to have steady LED.

Finally I get to contribute because of a pedal that I like AND use on a regular basis. However, since mine is sitting on my board in the rehearsal room, I'll get back to you tomorrow.

I have two twins to your #7400.. not as mint though..

I like how the "4" in "7400" is set a little lower than the other numbers. You can tell it was the one position being most rotated on the stamp.

I have 4.. and this thread is making me GAS for more.

If your looking for a cure for your GAS then you're in the wrong place, my 6 MT-2s are proof of that.

So I say go for it! The more TW-1s the better!

Hi Goran & Guys

I currently have a TW-1 T-WAH, on the Lab Bench undergoing some minor surgery.
She was really sick when she came to live at my place.

Overall cosmetically it's in very good condition,
I don't think it saw much action.
Exterior of the box is a little scuffed, with some random sales/resale stickers.

SS - Manual - Box - Long dash - switch type unknown MIA (missing in action).
S/N 9500 June 1980

I'll keep you informed when she finally recovers & is singing again.
BTW this is my first TW-1.

Regards Dr. Bob

Since I've started collecting, there have been VERY few T-wahs come around. I've seen a ton of traffic in "Touch Wahs" (some in my direction ), but only ever held a "T-wah" once. So.. to me, those are pretty rare!

Hi Guys
It's not too often that I get to quote myself.

Just letting you all know the TW-1 T-Wah has recovered from surgery.
She lives to sing once again.

From reading all the threads & posts here over the years.
I belive it's customary to get more than one TW-1.

If time allows, I'll see if I can post a few pics later.
It will be in the mods & Technical section.

Regards Dr. Bob
