Further to my Ebay Post about the $600K strat, no doubt a few readers here will have gone to eBay and browsed/sorted 'guitars'hightest price first... seems that there is quite a few vintage Fender product in the $20K to $75K, that *cough* appear to be more reasonably priced. In said spirit of bargain hunting, i just *had* to do a pawnshop troll to see "what's up" in c-town ...
My pawnshop trolling revealed a $40 MIJ SD-1. All the Strats and Tellies were all market priced. Gibson's are really hard to find used in C-town; truckloads of Epiphones. Interesting finds? EMG Equipped faded LP standard for about $1800 (2005), a couple of nice MIM Fender Jazz Bass - $250 (really clean), an ultra-cool medium green clear stained G&L SB-1 fretless bass that just screamed mojo I thought I found "the deal" when the price read $299 w/c, but it had a steel reinforced headstock repair; finally a couple of Epiphones of note, a 3 pickup Ace Frehley Les Paul, $899.99 and an SG-3, Les Paul Custom with all the trimmings white/gold/3 pickups. $99.99. Someone please explain to me one-thousand-dollar Epiphones.
Boo-boo of the tour: a lefty wine-red/silver LP Studio for $1200, used with lots of surface scratches; you can go down to L&M and buy their rental lefty LPs slighly used for $750.00. Mid-Nite Madness at L&M may get you a brand new one for $1000.00.
A lot of really bad crap too, like starter "strat-packs" and if there are any dan-electro collectors ... a $20.00 green back will buy you whatever one of those you want.
I'm empty handed :-( |

I pretty much pray to God to lead me such deals everytime before I set out.
I only find $40.00 DD-2s (twice! LOL) and a Drilled Case CE-2 blackbottom for $50 but i did not buy it because the owner drilled holes to move the i/o jacks to the back of the pedal instead of the sides.
My faith is not yet shaken |

| Yeah i don't know how big your town is, H&S, but maybe there's some bigger cities nearby, say within 1 or 2 hours? I used to live near (heh heh, if you call a 6 hour drive "near") Minneaoplis and it was just a hoot to go to the pawnshops and boutique music stores. Music Go Round in Duluth MN, for some reason, always got really good stuff in it (and that is a populated area of say only 150,000 but, it is a centre for all of Northern Minnesota... so maybe you and your buds need to go visit some college buddies in another state and 'see what you find'. But before you go, decide in your head 'gear' or 'girls' as the two narely mix. |

Yet another reason why I am glad that I moved to the coast. I got some great deals in pawnshops lately. You just have to be in the right place at the right time. Did I mention how warm the winter is here? |

heh heh ... for being on the 'other side' of the Rockies, EDMONTON seems to have much better selection or maybe, not so many eager pawnshop trollers!
>>>> Winter, what is that. Oh, you mean the cold snap we had on Saturday, 2.9C and raining. Riiiiiight. Dang you! |
