Hi All,
I found this forum while doing a Google search and being a long time Boss user, I had to sign up. I was aware of the Boss Area website as a great reference tool, but was unaware of this forum, which looks to be very cool.
I started playing guitar in the mid 80s and became a Boss user right off the bat. From then to the early 90s I had a CS-3, a DF-2, an HM-2, a CE-3, a DD-3, a CH-1, a GE-7 and not one but two DC-2 pedals, which I got NOS from a store liquidation. I also owned an RBF-10 Flanger and RDD-20 Digital Delay. I wasn't that much into other brands of pedals back then, but I did own an original Ibanez TS-808, a TS-10 and an STL Super Tube.
Then I went through a purge and got rid of all of my pedals. I got into amp building and built quite a few various types of tube amps.
Then last year about this time, I picked up a used, but mint shape DS-1 from Guitar Center for $20 and got hooked on pedals again. I collected so many that I began to put them into BCB-30 cases to store them.
Here's a shot of my current rig:
http://www.diycustomamps.com/images/rig_2.jpg
Since that photo was taken I've picked up a DS-2, an HM-3 and a PW-2.
I probably shouldn't admit this, but I'm also a DOD pedal collector. They aren't as well made as Boss, nor do they sound as good, but they are relatively cheap and easy to find.
Anyway, I was glad to find this forum.

Thanks.
The dirt pedals are arranged from least to most gain with the compressor on the front and the modulation/delay/reverb on the end.
My new DS-2 replaced the ML-2. I'm going to make a metal board with an HM-3, MT-2 and the ML-2 as soon as I get the funds.
I like the MD-2 quite a bit. I'm a big fan of heavy music, so the MD-2 sounds good to me.

| I love your set up. Can you get a nice big sound out of those amps? I've been trying to find a decent stereo set up solution for a while, I don't need to be loud but I still want a decent sound... |

| Welcome! I love the stereo setup. I use a Mesa Subway Rocket and Garnet D15TR (?) - although they're mismatched in wattage, the sound is still great. IDEAL would be two Subway Rockets (at least one with verb). |

I can get a nice, big sound. The RV-5 really helps, but the key is using good speaker cabinets. The RSA cabs in the picture are copies of the Mesa Boogie ported 1x12" cabs. The speakers in them are Celestion G12M-70s which everybody seems to hate but me. They are fairly neutral sounding for a Celestion, so they have a good clean sound. They also do get the Celestion sound, though.
The VJ amps themselves sound pretty good but they are single ended Class A amps so they are not going to sound like a push pull Class AB amp. Class A is warmer but not as agressive as Class AB. Some amps are very picky about what pedals sound good with them. For my taste, all the Boss pedals I have sound good through the VJ amps. Even my stock MIT DS-1 sounds great through them.
A couple of other suggestions for a stereo, low wattage rig:
A pair of Blackheart Little Giant BH5H heads/matching cabs or BH5-112 combos. These also sound great with Boss pedals.
For those living in the UK/Europe, I'd get a pair of these:

I don't know what I'd recommend for someone in Australia, though. I'm not familiar with what gear is offered there.

Here is a photo of my "mismatched" rig:

The combo on the left is a Blackheart Little Giant BH5-112. The head on the right is a Blackheart Little Giant BH5H. The amps have identical electronics, but the speakers are mismatched. Sometimes mismatching can be a good thing.
I think two Mesa Subway Rockets would be very cool.
My ideal setup would be two Blackheart Handsom Devil heads and matching cabs:

I'm also going to keep my eye on these:
