Hi Starr36
Looks like it's already gone, I hope BUYER "kitzman" Is one of the guys here on the forum? If not I guess we might have a new member soon, asking about how to repair an old DD-2
Sounded like it had a sh!tty DC input socket, or maybe just a poor solder joint on the back of the socket.
Bossarea Here is some more info for your database, from this auction. DD-2, MIJ, Blue label, S/N 543100 Can't quite tell it is has the White or silver lettering.
Regards Bob |

Poop!! Missed this one entirely...
But, as is fairly common, it only shipped to the USA. I've given up asking folks who put "USA only" on the auction if they will ship to Canada - the standard response I was getting was "I don't know how to".... |

I once dealt with a Canadian who said 'americans are too stupid and lazy to find out how to ship things for a fair price' and i partially agree with him..

Oh BTW as a side note I haven't sold much on E-bay myself but don't really care to ship outside US either. I guess it's just easier and less hassle, but in my defense I never BUY an item from outside the US either shipping usually takes away from the value and I guess truthfully you never know if the asshat will keep your money and never send the goods. IDK just my 2 cents |

It's certainly lower risk to only ship internally to your own country. I guess I'm just bitter and twisted because I can't buy good stuff that's so close...

Hey Laurie, I will say this. I think shipping to Canada wouldn't be that big of a deal you guys ARE close I personally don't know whats involved, do you just take it to UPS and send it or is there custom issues? I have know idea, the place I refuse to buy from even though there are a lot of cool pedals listed is Japan that just seems like a major pain in the ass to me. But what the hell do I know? |

This is how hard it is to ship to Canada.
1. weigh pedal and packing, er, most are 1 lb. 2. log into paypal and see that you got paid 3. click the 'create shipping label' button 4. fill in the form, i.e. guitar pedal/musical instrument 5. confirm the shipping details and the shipping prices i.e. that the price being charged makes sense 6. print the shipping label 7. stick the label on the box (glue it or tape it but NOT over the barcode). 8. drop the box off at the USPS office.
THE ONLY DIFF between this and US Domestic Shipping is you don't have to do Step 4.
Now USAites, how freaking hard is that?

Well see there you go Star as I do not ship very often I did not know that the (United States Post Office)emphasis on "United States" even delivered to other countries But I still wonder why bidders are always asking to declare lesser values and say that it's a gift and so forth guess it just seems like a real pain in the ass |

That's a bit naughty: - lower value = less customs/duty - gift = maybe no customs/duty at all...
In reality, I've had $500 commercial shipments from the USA with no duty payable, and a $20 gift with $10 payable. THere is no rhyme or reason... |

Hey guys... Canadians are extremely tax averse ... so the business of asking to mark the package 'gift' or asking to understate value, is really just trying cheat the tax system. The problem is IT IS ILLEGAL! and if the item is LOST, you end up being completely underinsured! The tradeoff is $5.00 handling fee + 7.% tax. This business of asking a seller to mark the package as a gift is just shooting oneself in the foot and should NEVER be complied with by a US seller. Period. IF the buyer is whining about the $5.00 fee and 7% G.S.T., what are they going to complain to YOU about regarding an 'unmentioned scuff' in the listing!!!! GRR!
IN REALITY, just like Laurie says, in MY experience only 1 out 5 packages gets stopped for the $5.00 fee and the 7% GST. Accordingly, my hobbying is way way way ahead my budget for taxes. AND as a prudent tax hating ebayer, I always adjust my bid for total cost, i..e BID amount + Shipping + potential Taxes so that if I win an item, i'm never pissed if the package attracts the import fees. That's how it works!
UPS though, is really ugly on this topic because they charge a 30% brokerage charge on items over $20.00. It is just plain silly to send something via UPS ... so a $100.00 delay pedal will cost you a whopping $28 and change JUST FOR BROKERAGE, so you are easily out about $145 for $100 pedal. That is just ugly! |

I only accept USPS for stuff from the USA. If the seller won't do it, I don't bid. Easy |

The 'gift' mark won't work, it doesn't matter wether the item is a gift or not, it is an import and taxes have to be paid. |

Indeed, USPS is the ONLY way to go.
WAAAAY back in 2004 I got pedals mailed to me for $4.85. Yes. USPS Letter-Parcel. NO longer available. |
