I have searched the net for tips how to mod CS-3, I didnt find that much. The Indy guitarists mod has a good reputation, but I cant find it.
Someone knows about a good mod?

I have upgraded C4, C6, C14, C17 to 1uF Panasonic Metal Films, C1 and C3 to Nichicon Electrolytic of the same value, and IC1 and IC2 to NJM4559L chips.

The sound is the same but much quieter operation. The background noise/hiss is gone.

Some suggest changing D2,D3,D6 to Germanium diodes of type 1N34A. I tried this change but reverted it to the original after a while.
It was ok but nothing dramatic.

This one basically contains all the changes from the Indy Guitarist mod with a few different values. I have done this to my DBX chip CS-3 and it's made a huge difference, it really is as close to transparent tone wise as I can't tell the difference and quieter too. I can't vouch for what it will do with a later THAT chip version.

I like the smoother tube like feel I got after changing D2, D3 and D6 to Germanium. I kept D7 stock, cause a germanium in that position makes it squash too early.
Since I use it with a bass with high output pickups, I need the pedal to be a little gentler.

Try changing C17 and C18 to .047uF, that brings some low end back into the circuit, it's not noticable with guitar, but with a bass there's some low end loss in the stock pedal.

Can't recall if your CS-3 is dBx or THAT? I did the Monte Allums mod to my THAT C-_3 and it didn't make it "better", just "different". Current thinking is that the mods to the dBx version have a greater effect (excuse the pun).
