I'd recommend maybe another pedal for experiementing... the SMD/digital version of the CE-5 would be a tough start

DS-1 / SD-1 / MT-2 are pretty simple pedals and easy to mod. Or even an older pedal - an MIT CE-2 maybe?

Yeah, I've been looking at some DS-1 mods. Not sure which one to go with.

i like the keeley Seeing eye mod. the ultra mod is not that good
