That's probably a very early Made in Taiwan pedal. These serial numbers are most often seen on DS-1, SD-1 or HM-2s. The pedal is likely made somewhere between February and September 1988. |

My bad. It's a PH-1r Made in Japan. It's the early version with the P located under the s in Phaser. Black thumb screw. Type 2 label. Based on this I'd say '80 to '81. What do you guys think? |

That is interesting. Sorry about my earlier assumption. That only applies to Taiwan pedals.
According to my serial number register I've once seen a PH-1r on Ebay with serial number 009690. 6 digit serials from the early 80s normally ends with 00 so I thought the earlier one was a rubber stamp accident.
It's probably from around mid 1981. That's when they stopped using 4 digit serials and replaced them with 6 and yours is probably one of the first with 6 numbers in the serial number. |

Thanks Mr. Administrator. That sounds about right given the other evidence. It was interesting that it does not come up in the database. Happy to have it. |

Going by the old Roland s/n table I posted on p.14 of the "Internals" thread, it might be Nov '80. I don't know how Roland and Boss s/n compare around that time, but certainly for all other 6-digit and new serials, they seem to use the same system.

That is very possible. Is 008690 ink stamped or on a paper sticker? I've seen a PH-1R with ink stamped 0200 and it's a bit odd if they went back and forth between the two numbering systems. |

Tried to upload images. Didn't work. Image display code added by Moderator.
Kenstee your uploads did work & they were on the server. With some browsers you will have to manually add the HTML code snippet. To see the code, just click on edit, & copy one of these to a safe place for future use, all you will have to then change is the "File Name".jpg The Forum allows JPG & GIF uploads.
Thanks for resizing your images.

I assume you could upload them in the little window that opens when you hit the "upload images" button, so I suggest you:
1- if it takes too long and does nothing try resizing your images to make them lighter, it will make the uploader run faster.
2- if you saw the "image uploaded" displayed on that little window, then just copy the link it gave you. Don't add http:// nor www.bossarea.com, just copy like it appears.
If it doesn't work, select the code of the image of your message and hit the "insert image" button in the "format" space just before the text box you write on.
Hope this helps.
