First post, glad to be here.
I ran the serial number of a HM-2 that I have in the decoder, #078371, and it appears to be a Type ll label except is say "Products of Roland TAIWAN," and it came back as being made in June of 1981. The HM-2 wasn't released until 1983.
Also, on the side of the pedal is a sticker printed with "SAFETY REQ/DATE DUE________"
and "SERIAL #_________ INT_______"
In the blanks the "date due" has hand written "10 dec 89" with the initials jb.
In the serial blank it has hand written "1078371" The "INT" blank has hand written DRM but it is scratched out and replaced with JB's initials.
Weird...was this a "test" pedal possibly?????

That's definetely odd.
Boss didn't move from Japan to Taiwan until '89, so my guess it's that it's made after '89 and that Bossarea's serial decoder is a little confused over this one.
I never saw one with a safety sticker on the side either.

Please remember to resize you picture to under 300K
Mst digital cameras now take really large hi-re pics,
of over 1.9M file size, way too large to upload, & will timeout the forum's server.

Hi mgh1196 and welcome to the forum.
Your HM-2 was probably made 1988. The first Taiwan pedals didn't follow the normal serial number pattern and the decoder doesn't take that into account. |

MIT HM-2 Production Date of June 1981???
