i'm having an intermittent problem with my pedalboard,i'm experiencing volume drops mostly during gigs,i thought it was the ds1 in my set up but i now suspect the wah pedal because a while ago when i switched it on and off i would lose the signal altogether but this problem hasn't occured in a long time, but lately i'm getting volume drops even when i'm not using it... another problem i'm having is getting good patch leads for pedals in ireland so that could be a reason as well,i had to make my own short 500mm lead for my ls2 for a loop... can you get good quality leads this short...? |

Yes. I suspect the switch has a "sag" in it. It should be replaced. Dunlop switches on GCB-95 pedals should be replaced as soon as they're purchased. I've purchased several broken ones. Every time, it's the switch. The webmeister Stinkfoot has some good info on this.

two gigs folks since i cleaned the switch... also one of me boss power supplies died as well in around the same time..i used a zoom one for the gig last night...i used the other boss one to power the mod/delay effects and the zoom one to power the compressor/dist/overdrive...my cs3,od2 and ds1 are all aca..now i know we had this discussion before about aca vs psa..etc but i would swear that the zoom adapter(which has a 300ma output, the boss is 200ma)gave the pedals more headroom... the od2 was kicking volume wise and the ds1 sounded great...now we were playing in the guinness hop store which is a pretty big venue so we were able to turn up a good bit but i thought(and this is only my opinion) that the leds were a lot brighter on the aca pedals and they sounded a lot better so by a happy accident the zoom is staying for the moment...now maybe the boss adapter was just on its way out but would it be possible an adapter doesn't just die and could be dropping of in voltage enough to make the pedals drop volume wise but keep them working ala a dying battery effect...??..i still think that the wah was a a factor as well....... |

Yep, you are not dreaming. The Zoom definitely does tend to make the LEDs brighter and the effect sound better. I can only use my CS-3 w/ the Zoom.
Now someone explain this to me. EVERYONE swears a pedal only uses as much power as it needs, right? So why does the Zoom work better on my CS-3? Note: in this argument, I am using One Pedal Only with a PSA, ACA or a Zoom. The Zoom wins and happens to have an extra 100 mA on hand. Interesting... |

hey guys,
since we're the subject on power supplies... i use a OneSpot and i use to power all my pedals it apparently has a 1700ma limit (i might be wrong on this one)... my chain goes like this: Behringer TU100 -> CS-3 -> DS-1 (MIJ) -> Ibanez TS-7 -> Dan Pepperoni -> EHX Small Clone/DC-3 -> DigiDelay... i'm pretty new to the forum so i was wondering if the OneSpot is both ACA and PSA compatible cuz i believe my DS-1 is a ACA... any ideas anyone??

as i understand it,once you have a psa and aca pedal in the same 'daisy' chain the problem goes away because the aca ones used to use a power supply with a bigger voltage(12 to 14 volts opinions vary on this..)they have some sort of regulator inside to drop the power to 9 volts but when in a chain with a newer psa one the common earth(the patch lead between the pedals)for some reason bypasses this problem...to be totally honest here i've never been 100% convinced that the aca pedals are working to their best like this so as i've already said (and this is only my opinion) i thought my old aca pedals(and for what its worth my fz3..psa type) sounded a lot better with the zoom supply on the last gig..... |

Hey Franzoni! The BOSS power supply that gave you those troubles is the same power supply that died on you? Have you tried your pedals with a new BOSS power supply? How much current were you using with all your pedals on?
Now I'm a bit worried since I power up all my pedals with one BOSS Power Supply. I only use 144 mA of the 200mA available on the PSU, though. |

Wha? Wha? Wha? How can you have 2 power supplies in one chain without a fire occuring.
On the other topic, yes a 1spot supplies up to 1700mA. Still, I can only use the Zoom PS on my CS-3. |

i posted a pic of my board in controlfreaks thread 'pedalboards'... i run two different chains the mod/delays are looped through a ls2...on another note my dd3's won't work off the zoom but all my other boss pedals do.....strange as i thought all flanger/chorus etc in boss pedals used some sort of delay chip to create the effect...that was the happy accident i knew my delays wouldn't work off the zoom so i used the other boss one to drive them and the zoom to run the compressor/overdrives for the gig ..i think i will leave it as it is for now for a few gigs and see what happens.... |

i don't know midibuddy..i'm still using my boss supply on my mod/delay effects as these are all psa type pedals..i'm going to leave the zoom on the chain with the aca pedals for the moment..like i said some poeple swear that it makes no difference....but i thought (and its only my opinion)that the aca pedals sounded better with the zoom adapter...another thing i found was my dd3's woun't work of the zoom supply...strange..... |

I group my ACA pedals on one power loop, and I run my PSA pedals on one power loop.
ACA pedals, (CE-2, DS-1, PH-1R, Ph-2) are all happy. I used to run the PSA / ACA pedals on one loop driven by a PSM-5, but in the back of my head, I knew that my ACA adapter was giving 18 volts at the end of the plug. |
