here's one for dr bob! but for anyone aswell, i know dr bob has a thing for his ce-2's!
i have a '84 mij ce-2, i've had it for a few years now.
anwyay, upon getting a ibanez cs9 i decided to mod the ce-2 with monte allums. (why?)
...and its worked ok for about 2 years.... and now. its develop this weird little wooshing noise that changes with the rate knob. when its on and when its off. any ideas what this could be? the effect itelf works ok, but obviously with this white noise its a little unusable?

I would suspect a leaky electro cap... You could replace the three electo along the left and top side with the equivilant values, or use metal film, thats one of Monte's tricks.
Curious about the Higher Voltage & More Headroom Mod. Like the blue led idea too, goes nice with the color of the pedal

This modster was kind enough to post a pic of his modded CE-2. http://www.robertkeeley.com/product.php?id=15 Swap out any of the electros for NP capacitor on the left hand side. The one in the middle and right are for the power, can't tell if those are stock or new. The cap by the TL022 is C19, a 1uf. The location of the Speedy Mod, or you could reduce R32 to 470k. Found lots more chorus mods based on the CE-2 and Small Clone. Here's a good question, why does the CE-2B have an Effects Level knob, while the regular CE-2 lacks one? |

| Also found that Monte uses a 220uf/16v instead of the 10v thats in there already. Won't pretend I know what that does... |

The reason for that is that bassplayers like to blend their effects with their clean signal so there's more low end preserved. Lots of bassplayers use a looper or blender box to blend in a DS-1 or a TS-9. Boss must've really listened to bassplayers needs on this one |

The bass chorus came out 5 years after the CE2 was discontinued, and the CE3 lacks it too. Guess around the mid 80's they decided their chorus line needed an Effects knob. Other than the effects knob, the only other basic difference is one cap to allow bass frequencies through. Tonepad has a great clone of it. |
