well... I guess I simply don't/won't have the patience to learn all about building a pedal from start to finish.
However I wanna learn all about the casing side of things.
I'm quite good with graphics (or at least I think so myself)
I just been to the local Conrad store and found out they had quite a huge variety of Hammond boxes - which I'd like to paint and finish....
now the stuff I need to learn are how to drill the holes into these buggers. Only material I drilled so far is wood and concrete
so if anyone has any experience they'd like to share feel free to let me know...
if all goes well I'll start a little rehouse your pedal website ;) or I could even imagine doing graphics for various boooo-teak builders that didn't give much thought to their pedals appearance yet...
but this is all future mambo jambo... first I need to learn how to do this.
Don't forget, Step drills work very well on diecast metal project boxes, like the ones from Hammond.
I have a set of (3) step drills, in varying sizes.
You may want to consider making a set of aluminum soft jaws for the drill vise. These will stop you putting jaw marks on your work, when clamping it into the vise. I typically just use some scrap right angle aluminum to make mine. & they last a you may years.
And as Laurie already mentioned, a taper reamer is a very handy tool to own.
The artwork & control layout can be one of the most difficult (to get right) parts, of designing & building pedals. I spend a lot on time on my designs, just designing the labels.
